About the Role
As a Principal Networks Consultant, your role is to identify and develop technology solutions and deliver technical networking projects for our customers to the highest quality standard, within scope, to budget and on time by defining their needs and developing a plan and proposal for the delivery of the project. It is expected that you can think quick on your feet, be able to identify risks to schedule and actively minimise uncertainty. You will have experience with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies. Exposure to Arista, Aruba, Fortinet or NSX is advantageous.
Preference to candidates with current Baseline or NV1 clearance.
What You Will do
As a Principal Network Consultant, you will:
• Develop professional expertise across a range of applicable technologies and achieve relevant certifications.
• Develop technology solutions for clients using company products, outsourced technology solutions, and proprietary tools and techniques.
• Design and develop high-quality business solutions and other project deliverables.
• Evaluate customer business needs and contribute to the strategic planning of information systems, software, and technology solutions.
• Take accountability for defined work assignments, including immediate actions and short-term resource planning.
• Plan and coordinate the resources required to complete product implementations and support the preparation of major sales proposals.
• Manage consulting teams in line with the size and scope of client projects.
• Liaise with key customers during the installation, testing, and deployment of developed solutions and products.
• Deliver project work that is appropriately scoped and approved by clients.
• Apply technical expertise to design solutions that meet project requirements.
• Build and maintain constructive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Requirements
What You Will bring
• Over 8 years of networking-focused experience in IT, with strong exposure to enterprise infrastructure and complex networking environments.
• Advanced expertise in designing, building, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise network solutions and architectures.
• Proven experience delivering secure, scalable, and resilient network solutions aligned to customer and business requirements.
• Strong technical documentation skills, with the ability to produce high-quality design documents, implementation plans, support documentation, and operational procedures.
• Professional-level certifications across two or more vendor technologies, preferably Cisco, Aruba, NSX, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with technologies such as SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, Cisco Wireless, SDA/Catalyst Centre, Load Balancing, and Cloud Networking would be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience working in client-facing roles within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or similar customer-centric technology environment.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards, compliance frameworks, and government regulations relating to data communications and networking.
• Proven experience in consulting, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and resource coordination within complex technology environments.
• Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical challenges and deliver practical, business-aligned outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, technical teams, vendors, and senior business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and project deliverables while maintaining a high standard of quality and customer service.
In addition to the above, you will be highly motivated, self-reliant, technically proficient engineer; a strong team player who can also work autonomously when required. You are an open and effective communicator at all levels both within Datacom and with our clients.
