The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Principal Engineer - M365 Engineer who can operate confidently across core M365 services, with a solid design experience in Entra ID.
You will be someone who can work independently, handle day-to-day operations and escalations, and contribute to improving the platform without needing constant oversight.
The environment includes hybrid identity with Active Directory, however this role is focused on Microsoft 365. You will primarily support cloud services and collaboration workloads rather than on-prem infrastructure.
You'll own the Entra ID platform operationally, designing and troubleshooting Conditional Access policies aligned to Zero Trust principles, leading SSO integrations for internal and third party applications, enforcing MFA at scale, and automating identity operations via PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API. You'll work across a hybrid environment touching both Entra ID and Active Directory, providing Tier 3 support for complex authentication incidents and contributing to continuous improvement of the platform.
What you’ll be doing
- Deep hands-on Entra ID experience in a large enterprise environment
- Conditional Access design, implementation and troubleshooting at scale
- SSO app onboarding via SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0 and OIDC
- Strong PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph API for identity automation
- Solid understanding of hybrid AD/Entra ID environments
- MFA implementation and enforcement including phishing resistant authentication
- Experience with identity monitoring via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel or Splunk
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and other collaboration tools
- Act as an L3 escalation point for complex M365 and identity-related incidents
- Contribute to root cause analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Microsoft 365, Identity & Access Management, Endpoint Management, or Infrastructure Engineering within a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Senior Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or equivalent technical role.
- Design and implementation of Microsoft 365 in a mid to large enterprise environment
- Solid design and implementation knowledge of Entra ID, including
- Conditional Access and MFA
- SSO integrations
- Service principals and app registrations
- Strong PowerShell skills across Microsoft 365, including Graph, Exchange Online, and Teams modules
- Experience with Exchange Online administration such as mailboxes, groups, and mail flow basics
- Working knowledge of SharePoint Online and OneDrive administration, focused on troubleshooting and user support
- Experience supporting Teams administration and user issues
- Understanding of core M365 platform features such as licensing, service health, and admin controls
- Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and handle escalations effectively.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Power Platform such as Power Apps and Power Automate
- Experience with M365 collaboration tools like Forms and light workflow automation
- Exposure to hybrid identity environments such as Active Directory and Entra ID
- Familiarity with security controls and best practices across M365
- Microsoft certifications such as MS-102 or SC-300
What makes this role a good fit
- You are comfortable working across multiple M365 workloads, not just one area
- You have a solid foundational understanding of Microsoft 365 and identity
- You use scripting and automation to improve efficiency
- You take ownership of issues and can work through problems without constant direction
