POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pricing & Allocation Director provides enterprise leadership for light products rack pricing and allocation across multiple marketing regions and classes of trade. This role develops and executes integrated pricing strategies, leads and coaches the Pricing team, directs allocation governance and system enhancements, and applies market, supply, competitive, legal, and regulatory insights to optimize value-chain margin capture and achieve sales objectives. The Director partners with senior leaders and stakeholders across the value chain to align pricing policies and commercial strategy, communicate decisions in dynamic market conditions, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal controls, and audit requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides leadership to the Pricing team and is accountable for performance and results across multiple trading-basis markets. Develops, integrates, and executes pricing strategies, annual plans, and priorities that ensure market competitiveness, optimize value, and achieve light product rack sales objectives across all classes of trade at owned, exchange, and throughput terminals. Covers a large geographic region and corresponding daily pricing decisions for Brand matrix pricing, as well as Wholesale pricing with supply, competitor and legal considerations.

• Establishes direction and provides leadership and coaching to Pricing team members, that span four marketing regions in evaluating and revising light product sales forecasts. Exercises significant judgment to capture economic opportunities for complex product slates in a substantial geographic region across daily, short-term, and long-term market dynamics.

• Directs the governance, maintenance, and use of allocation monitoring capabilities and has the authority to establish financial and operational objectives for allocating commodity rack sales across Brand, Wholesale and Fuel Source classes of trade when market conditions or corporate strategy warrant. Sets departmental priorities to execute allocation decisions effectively.

• Leads the development and implementation of pricing and allocation system and process enhancements to address complex operational needs, changing commodity markets, and evolving business requirements. Has direct accountability for setting and executing on Value Chain margin capture related to rack pricing.

• Provides enterprise leadership on pricing and market intelligence and contributes to the development of Commercial strategy. Builds alignment with internal and external stakeholders and ensures business units across the value chain understand how pricing policies, procedures, and operations affect business plans, decisions, and results.

• Develops and gains leadership support for evolving pricing strategies impacting multiple marketing regions. Is accountable for ongoing evaluation and reporting of pricing strategies to gain alignment and adherence. Regular interaction with senior leadership to explain daily pricing strategies in dynamic and volatile market conditions impacting most existing wholesale contracts.

• Leads the pricing response to state and federal legal or regulatory inquiries involving pricing data and policies, coordinating appropriate resources and stakeholders. Maintains accountability for ensuring MPC’s light products pricing policies and procedures comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline required.
• Twelve (12) years of industry or related experience (i.e., supply, trading, optimization, or marketing) required.
