The incumbent is responsible, under the direction of the Senior Manager, Copyright Services, for supporting student success by advancing the creation and use of open and affordable course materials, including open educational resources (OER), and relevant copyright matters at the University of Ottawa. They actively engage in outreach, provide assistance and contribute to the Library’s activities drawing on best practices from regional and national initiatives.
Primarily, the incumbent is responsible for the following work and activities:
- Affordable learning, OER, and copyright outreach
Develop and implement outreach activities at the University that engage faculty and instructors to maximize the creation, adaptation, dissemination and use of affordable course materials, including OER, and the application of fair dealing, open licensing, and other relevant forms of copyright.
- Education, resources, and service development
Provide guidance and resources to faculty, instructors, and students to facilitate the creation, adaptation, dissemination and use of affordable course materials, including OER, and to understand and apply principles of fair dealing, open licensing, and other relevant forms of copyright.
Term: Vacant position - Preliminary appointment leading to continuing appointment.
Salary: Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The expected hiring range for this position would normally be Rank I (salary starting at $73,098), II (salary starting at $86,623) or III (salary starting at $102,206) (As of May 1, 2025).

Required skills:
Education: A Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) from an institution that has been accredited by the American Library Association or equivalent.
Professional experience:
- Demonstrated experience related to affordable course materials, the textbook landscape, and OER, including OER development and support;
- Working knowledge of Canadian copyright principles, including open licensing and current issues within higher education;
- Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills;
- A proven service orientation with a willingness to collaborate and share expertise, as well as work in teams and negotiate solutions with diverse groups;
- Experience in project management, organization marketing and assessment of library services;
- Bilingual (English and French), written and spoken, including the ability to make presentations and deliver training in both official languages.
