Overview of the role
We are seeking for an ambitious, commercially driven, and results-oriented New Business Development Lead to join our Tokyo office. This opportunity is ideal for a proven B2B sales professional with a strong track record of acquiring new clients and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
As an individual contributor, you will take full ownership of the end-end sales cycle, from identifying and prospecting target accounts through to commercial negotiations and contract closure. You will focus on driving new business growth across Japan by engaging senior decision-makers within leading Japanese corporations and helping them leverage Euromonitor's market intelligence, consumer insights, and data solutions to make better-informed strategic business decisions.
We are looking for a highly motivated sales hunter who thrives on opening doors, creating new opportunities, and converting prospects into long-term clients. Beyond driving strong individual sales performance, you will also have the opportunity to develop mentoring and leadership capabilities, with the potential to progress into people leadership roles based on individual performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business growth through the acquisition of new corporate clients across Japan, taking ownership of individual revenue and sales targets.
- Identify, prospect, and engage senior decision-makers within Japanese organizations through strategic outbound activity, networking, referrals, and account-based sales initiatives.
- Build, manage, and convert a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities, maintaining a proactive and disciplined approach to business development.
- Own the end-to-end sales process from prospecting and qualification through discovery, solution presentation, commercial negotiation, and contract closure.
- Consistently achieve and exceed individual revenue, new logo acquisition, and pipeline generation targets.
- Develop and execute account penetration strategies to win new business within priority enterprise accounts and expand Euromonitor's presence across key industries in Japan.
- Position Euromonitor's market intelligence, consumer insights, data solutions, and consulting capabilities as strategic enablers of business growth, innovation, market expansion, and investment decision-making.
- Build trusted relationships with senior executives and business leaders across functions including Strategy, Marketing, Innovation, Corporate Planning, Business Development, and Market Intelligence.
- Lead consultative, value-based sales conversations that uncover business challenges, demonstrate commercial value, and deliver measurable client outcomes.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline visibility, and customer engagement records through effective CRM management and sales planning.
- Collaborate closely with research, consulting, and customer success teams to deliver a seamless client experience and maximize commercial opportunities.
- Act as a role model within the commercial team by sharing best practices, mentoring junior colleagues, and contributing to a high-performance sales culture.
- Proactively develop leadership capabilities and take on increasing responsibility, positioning yourself for future people leadership opportunities based on performance and business growth.
Requirements
- Right to work in Japan.
- Minimum 8 years of B2B new business sales experience, with a consistent track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Proven success in prospecting, pipeline generation, and closing complex new logo opportunities within enterprise and large mid-market organizations.
- Experience selling market intelligence, business information services, SaaS, data and analytics, research, consulting, or other insight-led solutions is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify client challenges, uncover growth opportunities, and articulate compelling value propositions that drive business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and build credibility with C-level executives and senior decision-makers within Japanese corporations.
- A highly driven, resilient, and self-motivated sales professional with a strong hunter mentality, entrepreneurial mindset, and passion for winning new business.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex buying processes.
- Results-oriented and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, with a disciplined approach to pipeline management and forecasting.
- Demonstrated leadership potential, with the ambition and capability to grow into a future sales leadership role while continuing to excel as an individual contributor
- Language skills: Native Japanese and fluent in English (TOEIC865 or more)
