Shape the Next Generation of Strategic Defense
This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of advanced missile and space defense technology—developing the systems that will help protect the nation and define the next generation of strategic defense capabilities. You’ll report directly to the Director of Engineering and work on-site in Plant 27.
Why This Opportunity Matters
This is more than another engineering position. You’ll be working on some of the Department of Defense’s highest-priority programs, tackling complex engineering challenges and developing technology that will have a direct impact on national security.
You’ll help develop generational defense capabilities, including advanced anti-ballistic missile defense systems and the next-generation intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
If you’re an engineer who wants to move beyond simply designing components—and wants to lead the technical direction of an entire system and help shape the future of strategic defense—this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.
The Opportunity
As an IPT Lead Engineer, you’ll play a critical technical leadership role in the development of advanced thrust vector control (TVC) actuation systems.
This is not a sustainment role. You’ll be helping design, develop, integrate, test, and transition next-generation hardware from concept through production.
With broad technical autonomy, you’ll lead complex engineering efforts, drive technical decisions, coordinate across disciplines and organizations, and serve as a key technical interface with customers and external partners.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence both the technology and the direction of the program.
What You’ll Bring
To be considered for this IPT Lead Engineer role, you’ll need:
U.S. Secret Clearance required; Top Secret preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
7+ years of experience in actuator and controller design
3+ years leading technical teams
Demonstrated experience across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and development through integration, test, and production
Experience preparing for and presenting customer design and program reviews
Experience with risk management and Earned Value Management (EVM)
Experience developing schedules using Microsoft Project
Familiarity with Agile development processes
What You’ll Do
As an IPT Lead Engineer you will:
Lead the Integrated Product Team responsible for the technical oversight, design, development, integration, and test of TVC actuation systems
Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle
Ensure end-to-end products are designed, integrated, and tested to meet program requirements
Lead design maturation and transition of hardware into production
Lead and participate in technical trade studies, balancing mechanical, physical, environmental, payload, power, propulsion, thermal, communications, and attitude-control requirements
Support major program design, integration, qualification, and readiness reviews
Serve as a primary technical interface across program, engineering, customer, and external partner organizations
Develop and maintain technical development plans, schedules, and execution inputs
Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for program tasks and new business opportunities
Communicate development status and establish meaningful metrics to track execution and technical progress
Provide schedule status, Estimate-to-Complete (ETC), and variance inputs to Cost Account Managers
Define technical objectives and drive solutions to complex engineering problems
Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and other professional staff
Develop and execute engineering solutions spanning design, integration, testing, documentation, resources, compliance, and safety
Coordinate technical documentation, reporting, presentations, and customer communications
Anticipate future technology needs and identify opportunities to apply emerging engineering technologies
Support the development and expansion of new business opportunities.
