Hotel Assistant Manager - Front Office

The Hotel Assistant Manager – Front Office oversees the daily operations of the Front Desk, ensuring smooth registration, cashiering, and front desk functions. The role responds to a wide variety of guest requests by accurately assessing their needs and ensuring timely and effective follow-up. Working closely with the Front Office Manager, the Hotel Assistant Manager supervises the Front Office team and ensures consistent service standards, clear communication, and smooth coordination with other hotel departments.

What You Will Do:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Front Desk, ensuring smooth and efficient guest arrivals, departures, registration, and cashiering.

• Respond to guest requests, enquiries, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.

• Ensure guest needs, problems, and special requirements are accurately communicated and followed up.

• Supervise, guide, and support Front Office colleagues to deliver exceptional and personalized service.

• Monitor daily Front Desk activities, ensuring accuracy in billing, payments, room assignments, and guest accounts.

• Work closely with the Front Office Manager on operational matters, service improvements, and team performance.

• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Concierge, Engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless guest service.

• Monitor VIP arrivals, special requests, and other guest preferences to ensure appropriate preparation and follow-up.

• Handle guest complaints and operational issues with sound judgment and appropriate escalation when required.

• Ensure Front Office policies, procedures, service standards, and security controls are consistently followed.

• Maintain accurate shift handovers and ensure outstanding matters are communicated and followed through.

• Utilize hotel systems effectively and ensure accurate updating and maintenance of guest information and room status.

• Assist with training, coaching, and development of Front Office colleagues.

• Act as Manager on Duty when assigned and provide operational support across the hotel.

What You Bring:

• Minimum 3–5 years of Front Office experience, preferably in a luxury or upscale hotel environment.

• Previous experience in a supervisory or Duty Manager role is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Front Office operations, including registration, cashiering, guest relations, and hotel systems.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong leadership ability with a guest-focused and service-oriented approach.

• Good attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Confident in handling guest concerns and resolving operational issues professionally.

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by hotel operations.

• Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English language.

• Must be able to speak, read, and write Bahasa Malaysia.

• Must have the right to work in Malaysia.
