The GPS Associate Programme is a structured, two-year development journey designed for ambitious early-career professionals aiming to build a career in private banking.

As part of the Direct Private Investments (DPI) team in Hong Kong, the individual will embark on a dynamic 18–24-month programme combining rotational assignments, intensive training, and mentorship with challenging projects and responsibilities. Through hands-on experience and continuous learning, the individual will develop the skills, network and business acumen necessary to transition into a permanent role as a DPI Analyst within GPS upon successful completion.

During the programme, the individual will rotate through 2-3 teams within GPS, gaining broad exposure to private markets, investments and financial services. The individual will support the Hong Kong and Zurich DPI teams in the day-to-day administration, coordination and documentation of private investment transactions. Further, the individual will receive continuous support via a dual mentorship model that pairs a senior mentor for career guidance and a buddy for day-to-day integration.

YOUR CHALLENGE

People management

• Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment
• Build highly impactful relationships with global and regional stakeholders across functions in the Bank

Client management (internal & external)

• Provide administrative support in transaction documentation for the DPI teams in Hong Kong and Zurich
• Ensure accurate storage, retrieval and archiving of transaction records in accordance with internal policies and procedures while ensuring a high level of accuracy, completeness and organisation
• Support the team in coordinating and executing direct private investments and capital-raising transactions
• Coordinate communications with companies, investors, advisors and internal Relationship Managers
• Track feedback and ensure timely follow-up with relevant stakeholders
• Organise management meetings, conference calls, travel arrangements and project-related discussions

Business management

• Coordinate transaction and post-transaction document workflows, approvals, signatures and fulfilling internal record-keeping requirements
• Assist with the preparation of presentations, investment materials, internal memoranda and review of transaction documents
• Assist in gathering and researching company profiles, industry overview, market trends, and identifying private investment opportunities
• Maintain DPI pipelines, investor contact databases, preference records and portfolio company developments by tracking milestones, timelines and performance updates
• Support alongside expense management, other operational processes and due diligence processes by coordinating information requests and maintaining transaction documentation
• Support the team in monitoring portfolio companies and their performances, including tracking transaction milestones, action items and project timelines

• Meet all legal, regulatory and compliance standards/requirements
• Adhere to the standards and expectations outlined in the relevant user manuals and guidelines
• Demonstrate appropriate values and behaviours including, but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Professional & technical

• 1-2 years of professional experience (including internships) preferred but not required
• Relevant higher educational and professional background (Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline)
• Understanding of financial modelling, valuation analyses and transaction-related sell-side materials
• Previous investment banking or private banking experience is not mandatory; internship experience in financial services or professional services is beneficial
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Co-Pilot
• Interest in private markets, entrepreneurship and investments
• Fluency in English and Mandarin, additional languages are also an advantage

Regulatory

• Familiarity with regulatory expectations and requirements
• Understanding of cross border rules and regulations
• HKMA/SFC licensed representative (highly preferred)

This is an in-scope position under the Mandatory Reference Checking Scheme (MRC Scheme) whereby applicants will be required to undergo reference checks from previous/and or current employers (Authorized Institutions) covering the past seven years. 

MRC Scheme is a standardized reference-checking arrangement that is designed to support the integrity of “authorized institutions” regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).   At a high level, the MRC Scheme requires an In-Scope Institution intending to hire an individual for certain relevant positions to conduct a mandatory reference check on that individual, by requesting information about them from each relevant former and current employer.
