We're seeking someone to join our team as an Associate in the Legal and Compliance division.

In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm's management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is an Associate position within the Oversight, Monitoring and Testing, this team continuously monitored to detect unusual or potentially suspicious activities. The exceptions generated are reviewed or investigated by applying a risk-based approach, which involves considering available information pertaining alongside the risk tolerance of the Firm with respect to money laundering.

What you'll do in the role:

• Review surveillance items flagged as potentially suspicious transactions or exceptions in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the GFC Procedures Manual.
• Review account activity of Morgan Stanley clients using client info, transactional activity and perform a review of account documentation to resolve alerts of any such clients in accordance with the GFC Procedures Manual.
• Perform outreach to client relationship/sales teams or other areas within Morgan Stanley in accordance with the GFC Procedures Manual to determine whether there is an explanation for the activity that triggered the alert.
• Escalate any questions or potentially suspicious activity found to the Morgan Stanley contact designated in the GFC Procedures Manual for further investigation.
• Review and analyze surveillance items identified as part of "below-the-line" testing, risk engine tuning and lookback activities.
• Draft dispositions summaries that support the alert review outcomes, ensuring documents are clear and concise while complying with regulatory expectations.
• Ensure a high-quality work product and that the level of documentation adheres to procedural expectations.
• Ensure daily operational processing is completed according to established program SLAs and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively identify risks to the GFC program and day-to-day; escalate on a timely basis.
• Provide process improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Adhere to Morgan Stanley’s core values and drive the same within the team.

What you'll bring to the role: 

• Typically, 2+ years’ experience of AML, Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, Regulatory environment; experience in the financial or professional services industries.

• Solid track record working in a professional environment.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues across regions and Business Units.
• Ability to use various PC, MS Office and internet applications and tools to support the processes.
• Foundational understanding of the financial markets and banking, including broker-dealer product-based knowledge and the ability to learn concepts quickly.
• Should exhibit comfort in working with technology and the ability to learn and display proficiency on technical systems and programs.
• Proficient with MS Office  
• Team player who can successfully work with larger teams to drive common results.
• Quick learning curve and perform with minimum hand holding. 
• Have through research and analytical mindset.
• Successfully meet established deadline requirements – display efficient time management skills \
• Have the ability to effectively handle a fast-paced environment
• Ability to identify and recommend process efficiencies
• Flexible to take up adhoc work.  

Coverage

Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM India time with flexibility on standard working hours for time sensitive matters (including India Public Holidays). The shift timing will be flexible dependent of evolution of the process
