THE OPPORTUNITY
The Field Technician will provide hands-on support for the installation, inspection, testing, documentation, and maintenance of critical facility systems. This role is suited to someone who works carefully in active technical environments, follows established procedures, and communicates clearly when field conditions do not match expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect installed equipment, cabling, controls, and supporting infrastructure against drawings and checklists
- Assist with startup, functional testing, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and equipment replacement
- Use meters, diagnostic tools, and software interfaces to collect readings and verify system performance
- Maintain accurate field notes, test records, photographs, asset data, and issue documentation
- Coordinate daily work with contractors, vendors, engineers, commissioning staff, and operations teams
- Escalate safety, quality, configuration, and performance concerns promptly
- Follow site access, lockout/tagout, change-control, housekeeping, and safety procedures
- Support punch-list completion, turnover, and closeout activities
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent field experience
- 2+ years of experience with electrical, mechanical, controls, network, low-voltage, or industrial systems
- Ability to read drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and test procedures
- Comfort using hand tools, meters, laptops, mobile documentation tools, and basic diagnostic equipment
- Strong attention to safety, procedure, documentation, and change control
- Ability to lift equipment, use ladders, work in active facilities, and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Availability for travel, shift work, after-hours testing, or emergency support when required
