About the Role
At Toll Group, sustainability is at the heart of how we operate and grow. As an Environment Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering environmental strategies that drive compliance, innovation, and long-term value creation across the business. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, you will provide expert guidance on environmental risk, regulatory compliance, performance reporting, and environmental management systems while influencing stakeholders across a large and complex organisation.
A Day in the Life of an Environment Manager at Toll Group
- Develop and implement environmental strategies and standards aligned with recognised frameworks and best practice.
- Lead environmental risk management, compliance programs, audits, licence renewals, and incident reporting.
- Monitor environmental performance and deliver meaningful reporting and insights to senior leaders.
- Partner with operational teams to promote positive environmental practices across the organisation.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, government bodies, industry groups, and key stakeholders.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging environmental risks, opportunities, legislation, and sustainability trends.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with environmental approvals processes.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience developing and improving Environmental Management Systems such as ISO 14001.
- Experience in environmental monitoring, compliance inspections, and reporting.
- Logistics or supply chain industry experience will be highly regarded.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant experience in environmental management, strategy, reporting, or compliance within a complex organisation
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with sound judgement.
- Experience using and improving systems for environmental data collection and reporting.
