We are hiring an Engineering Lead to build and run the Planning product on the Avathon platform. You will lead the team that turns forecasting and optimization models into production planning software: demand planning, supply and capacity planning, inventory and clear-to-build. Planning runs on our Computational Knowledge Graph and pulls from ERP, MES, PLM and logistics data, so the hard problems are data, scale and getting the right plan in front of a planner fast. This is a hands-on lead role in Product Engineering. You will write code, own the architecture, and lead a team of engineers.
You Will
Architecture and Build
- Own the technical architecture for Planning services: data models, plan generation, scenario and what-if runs, plan versioning and reconciliation
- Build the pipelines that bring orders, inventory, BOM, production schedule and shipment data from ERP, MES, PLM and TMS sources into the planning model
- Productionize forecasting and optimization models built with our AI scientists, including solver integration, scheduling of plan runs and monitoring
- Design for scale: large multi-level BOMs, many SKUs and sites, and plans that refresh in minutes, not overnight
Platform Integration
- Model planning entities and their relationships in the Computational Knowledge Graph so a supply issue can be traced to the orders and production it affects
- Work with the agent team to let AI agents explain plans, flag exceptions and recommend actions
- Turn customer-specific planning work into reusable product components
Team Leadership
- Lead and grow a team of engineers; set priorities, review designs and code, and mentor
- Partner with the Planning product manager on roadmap, scope and release planning
- Own quality, performance and reliability for Planning in production
- Work with forward deployed teams on customer go-lives and escalations
You'll Have
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineers
- Built planning, scheduling, forecasting or optimization software, ideally at a vendor such as Blue Yonder, o9 Solutions, Kinaxis, Oracle SCM, SAP IBP or Anaplan, or on planning systems at a large manufacturer
- Strong backend skills in Python, Java or similar, with experience building data pipelines and APIs
- Experience integrating optimization solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools or similar) and ML models into production systems
- Solid understanding of supply chain planning concepts: demand, supply, MRP, capacity and inventory
- Experience with large-scale data processing and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS); graph data models are a plus
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or a related field
Compensation
Pay Range: $160,000-$220,000 salary annually. Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Location: This role is not remote. Candidates must be based in the Bay Area, CA and are expected to report to our Pleasanton office 5 days a week.
