The Volunteer’s Role

As part of Cuso International's commitment to strengthening economic resilience and expanding inclusive employment opportunities, we work with local partners to improve workforce development systems, employability outcomes, and labour market responsiveness.

In this placement, you will support INFOP in establishing its Employability Observatory, an initiative designed to strengthen the collection, analysis, and use of labour market and employability data. The Observatory will help measure the impact of INFOP's training and workforce development programs while generating valuable insights to support employers, job seekers, training institutions, and policymakers.

We are seeking a volunteer with expertise in employability, labour market research, workforce development, data analysis, and monitoring and evaluation to help design practical tools and systems that capture employment outcomes and support evidence-based decision-making.

Through this assignment, you will contribute to improving how workforce development programs measure success, identify labour market trends, and create stronger pathways to employment.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Design and Development of Employability Monitoring Tools
    • Review and assess existing labour market and employability information available within INFOP.
    • Develop and validate data collection tools, including surveys, interview guides, and questionnaires.
    • Support the implementation and application of data collection methodologies.
    • Develop frameworks and indicators to measure employability outcomes and program impact.
    • Analyze collected data and produce findings, recommendations, and reports.
    • Create user-friendly tools and processes for ongoing labour market monitoring and analysis.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building
    • Develop a practical user guide for data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
    • Design and facilitate training workshops on the use of employability monitoring tools and systems.
    • Develop a facilitator's manual to support future delivery and replication of workshops.
    • Build staff capacity in data-driven decision-making and labour market analysis.
    • Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders and leadership teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Education, Labour Studies, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Organizational Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management, Labour Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience in employability, workforce development, labour market research, or program evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative research skills.
  • Experience designing surveys, assessments, or data collection methodologies.

Essential Background:

  • Experience collecting, processing, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience in employability programs, workforce development initiatives, or labour market assessments.
  • Knowledge of labour market trends, workforce needs, and employment outcomes measurement.
  • Experience in organizational strengthening and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Experience designing career guidance, workforce readiness, or employment support programs.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and partners.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and critical thinking skills.

Volunteer Support and Requirements 

Support Package

Cuso International provides a comprehensive support package to ensure volunteers maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle aligned with local standards. This includes:

Selection and Screening

If you are shortlisted, you will need to: 

  • Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel 
  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference 
  • Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview 
  • Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure 
  • Comply with anti-terrorism checks 
  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct 

Residency and Citizenship: Candidates are responsible for confirming how volunteering internationally may affect their citizenship or residency status. Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
