What is the opportunity?

To lead the execution and delivery of the RBC Capital Markets Productivity & Efficiency program, supporting the strategic direction set by senior leadership while driving tangible improvements across business operations and cost management.

What will you do?

Strategic Direction & Planning

• Execute annual and longer-term productivity & efficiency objectives as set by CM leadership, translating strategic priorities into actionable initiatives
• Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and apply extensive Capital Markets knowledge to ensure best in class solutions that transform business results
• Lead the identification and pursuit of efficiency opportunities from cross-business and cross-functional initiatives across Capital Markets and enterprise wide
• Lead the measurement and assessment of new productivity technologies and opportunities, partnering with business leaders to quantify success and business impact
• Develop forward-looking roadmaps for productivity initiatives that address both immediate opportunities and longer-term capability building

Program Execution & Delivery

• Develop and maintain detailed tracking of the productivity & efficiency benefits inventory, ensuring accurate monitoring of initiatives in flight, planned, and completed, and be the ‘single source of truth’ at all times
• Establish and refine metrics and reporting frameworks to measure progress against productivity and efficiency targets
• Support the scaling and replication of successful productivity initiatives across business units
• Monitor and track progress across multiple concurrent initiatives, escalating risks and roadblocks to leadership
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess initiative health, validate benefit realization, and recommend adjustments

Stakeholder Management  

• Identify and recommend cost reduction strategies and process improvements to senior leaders across CM
• Partner with business leaders to enhance cost transparency and identify new ways of working that create value for clients, shareholders, and employees
• Maintain effective relationships and routines with business leaders, program teams, and initiative sponsors
• Actively participate in cross-functional committees and business management forums to drive alignment and share best practices

People Leadership & Collaboration

• Leads a high performing team, leveraging individual capabilities and strengths
• Provides coaching, mentoring and professional development that further embeds the right culture, values, and leadership behaviours
• Works with team members to establish goals, drive performance management, support career development and reward strong performance.
• Actively works to identify future leaders, ensuring high employee engagement, diversity and inclusion.
• Takes a strategic view of resourcing and reskilling to accommodate changes in the evolving business and technology landscape.
• Maintains effective relationships and routines with business leaders and program/initiative teams 
• Actively participates in cross functional committees such as the Productivity & Efficiency Council, Administrative & Initiatives Committee, various project steering committees, various business management forums

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• 7-10 years of relevant work experience and education
• University degree in a related field
• An experienced leader within the Capital Markets or Financial Services industry with a background in cost transformation and/or finance
• Experience operating in a highly complex and fast-paced environment
• Experience assessing and evolving business transformation and presenting a plan that will guide to the right outcomes
• Professional agility and adaptability necessary to lead this evolving function successfully
• Demonstrated experience in the coordination of large cross-functional programs/projects
• Demonstrated experience in defining and establishing new business processes and forming strong relationships across front and back office businesses and functions.
• Possesses a blend of capital markets business acumen and functional expertise, blended with the requisite people and relationship skills needed to navigate technical and territorial obstacles.
• The ability and interest to work in a team-based and collegial environment where consensus-building is a significant key to overall success.
• Strategic mindset with clarity of purpose to articulate a vision and bring the solution to life
• Integrator with wide perspective and creative thinking
• Ability to distill issues down to present viable solutions
• Strong people leadership skills to manage, motivate and inspire a multi-disciplinary workforce
• Highly collaborative relationship builder who can impact and influence senior stakeholders outside of span of authority
• Strong change management capability to support the evolving nature of business requirements
• Technical: 
  • Capital Markets knowledge / experience
  • Program management with ability to monitor and track progress across multiple programs
