This role provides practical, business-aligned legal support to MMS’s Extended Care segment and related customer-facing teams, helping enable commercial growth while managing legal, regulatory, and operational risk. The role reports to the Managing Principal Counsel, Market Engagement & Sales.

This position serves as a key legal partner to sales, operations, contracting, pricing, finance, compliance, and other business teams that support the Extended Care segment. The attorney will draft, review, analyze, and negotiate customer-facing commercial agreements and will provide clear, practical guidance on day-to-day business issues, customer relationships, and growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Counseling: Provide practical, risk-based legal advice supporting day-to-day operations, commercial strategy, customer relationships, and business initiatives for the Extended Care segment.

  • Commercial Transactions: Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate customer-facing agreements, including product supply agreements, service agreements, discount and rebate arrangements, rental arrangements, and related commercial documents.

  • Extended Care Segment Support: Serve as a dedicated legal partner for the Extended Care segment and support related customer-facing teams, including stakeholders focused on long-term care, home health and hospice, and other non-acute care markets.

  • Growth and Revenue Enablement: Support new business opportunities, customer programs, sales initiatives, and commercial strategies by helping identify legal issues early and providing practical paths forward.

  • Contracting Tools and Process Improvement: Support the development and use of templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and contracting processes to improve speed, consistency, and risk management across recurring commercial matters.

  • Healthcare and Compliance Collaboration: Partner with Compliance, Regulatory, Privacy, Finance, Pricing, and other subject matter experts to address healthcare regulatory, business conduct, privacy, marketing, pricing, and customer engagement issues as appropriate.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborate across Legal, Compliance, Sales, Operations, Finance, Pricing, Customer Experience, and other functions to support business objectives.

  • Execution and Adaptability: Manage competing priorities, adjust to changing business needs, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and some ambiguity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills & Experience:

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting commercial agreements.

  • Strong issue-spotting, drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical, business-oriented legal guidance to commercial stakeholders.

  • Sound judgment and ability to balance legal risk, business objectives, customer needs, and operational considerations.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a record of developing strong working relationships in a matrixed enterprise environment.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and actionable way.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize effectively, and adapt to evolving business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting healthcare, distribution, medical-surgical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated commercial businesses.

  • Experience supporting sales organizations or customer-facing business units.

  • Experience with product supply agreements, discount and rebate arrangements, rental or service agreements, healthcare customer contracts, or other business-to-business commercial agreements.

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory considerations affecting customer contracting, marketing, pricing, privacy, compliance, or non-acute care markets.

  • In-house counsel experience preferred.
