What you'll be doing

CIBC’s Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering team is hiring for Winter Co-Ops! This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative, agile, team-based environment where you’ll support reporting, analytics, and data visualization that enable informed decision-making across the function. As a Co-op Student on the Business Intelligence team within Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a business intelligence function while building technical capability across SQL, Python, Databricks, Tableau, and Power BI. You’ll contribute to meaningful work, strengthen your analytics and reporting skills, and gain exposure to a collaborative corporate environment focused on data-driven decision-making.

• You must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education to be eligible for this opportunity; preference will be given to 3rd- or 4th-year students.

• You are pursuing a degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.

• Duration of term: 4 months.

How you'll succeed

• Data Extraction & Reporting - Support the extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis of data from multiple internal sources to enable accurate, timely, and meaningful reporting for the Enterprise AML team.

• Dashboard Development & Visualization - Assist in the creation and enhancement of dashboards, scorecards, and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, and other reporting tools to communicate key metrics and insights clearly and effectively.

• Analytics & Insight Generation - Analyze data, identify trends and anomalies, and support the delivery of business intelligence that informs reporting, monitoring, and decision-making.

• Technical Enablement - Use SQL to query, analyze, and troubleshoot data issues, and support automation and analytical tasks using Python and Databricks.

• Data Quality & Validation - Perform data quality checks to help ensure reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, and reliable.

• Stakeholder Collaboration - Partner with team members and business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into practical, effective reporting solutions.

• Documentation & Standards - Contribute to process documentation, report logic, metric definitions, and dashboard standards to support consistency, usability, and scalability.

• Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, dashboard usability, and overall visualization effectiveness.


Who you are

• You have experience or academic exposure to SQL and familiarity with Python for data analysis, scripting, or automation.

• You can demonstrate exposure to Tableau, Power BI, Databricks, or other reporting and visualization tools.

• You’re analytical and detail-oriented. You bring strong problem-solving skills, a high degree of attention to detail, and a commitment to data accuracy.

• You’re curious and proactive. You’re eager to learn, take initiative, and grow your technical and business knowledge in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• You’re a strong communicator. You can document processes, explain findings clearly, and translate analysis into actionable insights for business partners.

• You’re a collaborator. You work effectively with team members and stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business needs.
