Astrodynamics Software Engineer

You’ll help make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements. You Have: 

• 3+ years of experience in astrophysics or astrodynamics

• 3+ years of experience using Python for mission‑critical or scientific applications

• Experience developing software in Linux or UNIX environments, including shell scripting and operational troubleshooting

• Experience working with containerized environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD workflows

• Experience designing, building, and deploying algorithms for orbital determination, tracking, or space domain awareness

• Knowledge of orbital mechanics and space object behavior

• TS/SCI clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Astrophysics, or Computer Science

Nice If You Have: 

• 3+ years of experience using Java for mission‑critical or scientific applications

• Experience with large‑scale, distributed systems supporting space situational awareness or orbital analytics

• Experience with enterprise CM pipelines, version control discipline, and release management hygiene

• Possession of strong communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences

• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

• Level II Information Assurance Technical (IAT Level II) Certification

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Associate Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
