About this opportunity:

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time non-tenure line faculty position as Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematical Sciences (Statistics/Data Science specialization) beginning August 16, 2027.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

What you'll do and what you will bring:

Duties & Responsibilities:  Teach approximately 12 credits per term of courses in statistics, data science, data analytics, core curriculum courses in quantitative reasoning, and other courses such as precalculus depending on Department need and applicant qualifications. Pursue a program of professional development and perform service activities for the Department.  Evidence of high-quality teaching and significant service are necessary to be eligible for reappointment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, or closely related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment, with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in statistics, data science, or mathematics.  Effective written and oral communication skills; commitment to excellence in teaching as demonstrated by a teaching statement and/or teaching evaluations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Doctorate degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, or closely related field by date of appointment.  Teaching experience at the college level.  Experience teaching advanced statistics or data science classes is highly desirable, as is experience with programming languages such as R, SAS and/or Python.  Experience or interest in online instruction.
