About the Role
The Senior Application Support Engineer serves as the technical escalation point for Availity Extend Application Support operations. This role leads to complex troubleshooting activities, major incident investigations, root cause analysis efforts, production support governance, and mentoring of junior engineers.
The Senior Engineer acts as a bridge between Support and Engineering, ensuring issues are properly diagnosed before escalation and supporting continuous service improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead P1 and P2 incident investigations.
- Serve as shift-level technical lead.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of applications, APIs, integrations, authentication systems, cloud infrastructure, and customer environments.
- Support service restoration activities during major incidents.
- Conduct in-depth log analysis and root cause investigations.
- Review defect escalations prior to Engineering engagement.
- Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams on complex customer issues.
- Lead release readiness reviews and deployment validation activities.
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting standards, runbooks, and support frameworks.
- Mentor and coach Application Support Engineers.
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce support volume and improve service reliability.
- Participate in architecture reviews, service reviews, and operational readiness discussions.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years of Application Support, Production Support, Cloud Operations, or Platform Support experience.
- Experience managing complex technical incidents.
- Experience working directly with Software Development teams.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native SaaS applications and APIs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting SaaS applications in a production environment.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
- Understanding of healthcare technology, EDI transactions, or payer-provider integrations.
- Experience working with global support teams and customers.
