The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is recruiting for its 2027 Summer Internship Program! There are multiple postings covering our various opportunities; you may apply to more than one posting or be interested in more than one of the opportunities below.

Our summer internships provide talented students an opportunity to gain valuable experience by working on projects that support our business areas; and ultimately impact the national economy.

Our intern program also allows insight into the possible future entry-level positions and be exposed to several areas across the division and bank.

Regardless of which internship, all our interns experience the following:
• Networking within the Bank and across the Federal Reserve System
• Various events ranging from Leadership Q&As to development-oriented sessions and much more
• Dedicated intern mentor program
• Exposure to Bank operations and mission driven work

The following opportunities are within Data and Business Technology. These are across multiple business areas and may require enhanced background screening and or US Citizenship.

Treasury Do Not Pay – Join a highly-visible program run by the U.S. Department of the Treasury that is using federal payment and payee data to monitor federal payments for fraud, waste, and abuse. Using Python, evaluate database(s) within an Amazon Web Services environment to assist with documentation and outlining the use of tables and functions across the code base. Based on experience level, an opportunity also exists for greater responsibility working on an advanced data matching procedures and pipelines for delivery of matching products to state and federal customers. You will be able to build your knowledge-base related to the utilization of analytical tools, including AI tools (at a limited scope). Computer programming skills, awareness, or interest is required; interest in using new technologies for coding and documentation desired. This position is open or adaptable to all skill levels.

Product Owner – Working in our Treasury team, join a scrum team, work as a Jr. Product Owner, attend ceremonies, contribute to Jira and Confluence as needed by logging stories or updating artifacts, meet our stakeholders (internal and external), dev teammates, and shared service contacts, support the scrum team to meet goals. Opportunity to work on a self-driven project as well.

Security Compliance Support - work within our Supervision, Credit & Learning division on our Information Security Compliance Team. Assist with software security reviews, access changes and content creation highlighting the importance of security. Some ad-hoc end user support possible.

Statistics Analyst- Working within our Supervision, Credit, and Learning department, gain hands on experience analyzing reports, ad hoc responsibilities around system workgroups, automation tools or queries and opportunities to explore partner teams based on interest.

SPRA Policy Analyst – Variety of tasks ranging from data analytics to researching topics to write briefs and summaries of data. Interest in banking and economics ideal, coding or data analysis experience is a plus.

Data Science Analyst - The Summer Intern will support data analytics initiatives within the Supervision division, contributing to projects in Advanced Analytics, GenAI, and Agentic AI experimentation. Key responsibilities include developing code to fulfill data requests and applying Machine Learning techniques to foundational data science tasks. Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL is required, with an interest in Machine Learning and GenAI considered a strong plus.

The Details

The internship will be 35 hours/week in a hybrid environment in downtown Saint Louis. The internship will run 9 weeks, June 7th – August 6th. This is a paid internship, $20-$22/hr depending on your year of school.
