IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

• Make the right thing the easiest thing: Identify developer friction points like slow type-checking, confusing test infrastructure, or painful onboarding and eliminate them through documentation, tooling, and automation.
• Lead large-scale initiatives with precision and clarity: Write RFCs for projects related to our mission, build consensus across teams, and systematically execute architectural changes across the codebase.
• Hunt down performance bottlenecks across the full stack: profile, instrument, and resolve issues spanning client rendering performance, GraphQL latency, and database query performance.
• Raise quality and confidence through automation: Improve code quality across the engineering organization by authoring custom lint rules, maintain code generation pipelines that ensure type safety across packages, tune and maintain CI workflows to be both thorough and fast, and ensure that quality gates catch real issues rather than slow developers down.
• Keep the foundation solid: Upgrade and maintain critical dependencies across a large dependency graph by navigating breaking changes in tools and manage pnpm catalogs, patches, and overrides to keep ~20 packages building cleanly.

ABOUT YOU 🦄

• You have 5+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node/TypeScript, React, React Native, GraphQL, and Postgres (or similar relational database).
• You have a passion for performance and observability: improving load times, digging into metrics and traces to diagnose issues, or speeding up CI pipelines all sound like fulfilling projects. Experience with GitHub Actions, E2E testing frameworks, or mobile-specific concerns like over-the-air updates and native build tooling is a plus.
• You're comfortable working across the full stack and diving deep into unfamiliar systems to understand how they work and how to make them better, whether that’s tracing a performance regression through GraphQL resolvers, ORM models, or caching layers. Bonus points for hands-on experience with large-scale TypeScript + GraphQL stacks and pnpm workspaces.
• You've led or participated in large-scale codebase migrations where “just rewrite it” wasn’t an option. You understand the technical and social challenges that come with new tooling and processes, and how to break massive changes into safe, incremental steps.
• You're both a student and a teacher, curious about new tools and technologies, eager to share what you learn through RFCs and technical strategy docs, and energized by the ambiguity that comes with a growing engineering organization.
• You think about developer feedback loops as a product: how long does it take from saving a file to seeing the result, from pushing a commit to getting CI feedback, and you thrive on measuring these processes and then working to systematically shrink them.

As Montessori Assistant Teacher (internally titled Assistant Teacher II) for Bezos Academy, you share our passion for early childhood education and the Montessori method, drawing your energy from working in a child-initiated learning process. Your responsibilities will include assisting lead teachers in developing and implementing a program that promotes the cognitive, language, emotional, social, and physical development of each child. Drawing on your previous experience working with young children, you will support lead teachers in high-quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired programs in our growing network of preschools in under-resourced communities.

LOCATIONS

We are actively hiring Montessori Assistant Teachers for our preschools in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area: 

• Renton – North Highlands (3000 NE 16th Street, Renton, WA 98056)

The start date for the Montessori Assistant Teacher position will be July 21, 2026. For those who are not already credentialed, you will elect to either participate in an external training program or enter our part-time training program to become Montessori certified in the fall. Please note that this will require some coursework to be completed outside normal working hours.

SCHEDULES, BENEFITS, AND COMPENSATION

• School schedules vary depending on community needs but generally range from 8am-5:30pm, with teachers staggered across these hours with varying start and end times totaling no more than 8 hours per day. Your specific schedule will be determined with your school leader when considering all staff, classroom, and community needs.
• This is a full-time (40 hours per week), benefits-eligible, non-exempt/hourly position.
• Compensation for this position is $26-$36 per hour (~$54,000 - $74,000 annually). The upper third of the compensation range is typically reserved for existing employees who have been in the role for multiple years and demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting compensation will vary with prior experience and qualifications but is estimated at $29-$32 per hour. 
• This role includes 32 paid days of scheduled breaks, 3 paid days of personal time off, 9 paid days of sick (care) time, 10 paid holidays, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Meet one of the following criteria:
  • Four years of professional experience as an aide, assistant, or lead teacher of children from infancy through third grade
  • Two years of professional experience as an aide, assistant, or lead teacher of children from infancy through third grade AND an associate’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., child development, early childhood education etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree
• Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE-accredited institution or on track to obtain one within two years of hire
  • If you do not hold a Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE-accredited institution, you will be eligible to complete the Bezos Academy Montessori Primary teacher coursework, provided at no cost
• Ability to pass background checks, tuberculosis screenings, and trainings required by the state of Washington required to supervise children independently
• Ability to independently supervise, communicate effectively with, and care for young children safely, including ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Access to reliable transportation to and from work and ability to consistently attend work as scheduled to ensure proper staff-to-child classroom ratios and support smooth school operations

This role requires a Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE-accredited institution. If you do not currently have this credential, your employment in this role is provisional until you successfully obtain one. You must obtain this credential within two years of your start date to remain in this role. Upon hire, you may elect to obtain a credential through the Bezos Academy Montessori Credential Program (MCP), offered at no cost, or through any other MACTE-accredited program at your own expense. 

Participation in MCP is voluntary and unpaid. MCP activities may occur during periods that overlap with scheduled working hours or scheduled breaks, including summer break. To the extent that participation in MCP overlaps with your regular working hours, those working hours will be paid. To the extent participation overlaps with scheduled breaks for which you are eligible, those scheduled breaks will remain paid.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates degree or higher in education or related field
• Experience teaching in a Montessori preschool
• Professional experience working with young children with special needs

RESPONSIBILITIES 

*NOTE: The combination of responsibilities may vary based on the needs of the school site, students, and prior experiences of the Montessori Assistant Teacher. Some Montessori ATs will provide support across an entire school rather than be assigned to a single classroom.

Instructional 

• Support the lead teacher in preparing and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
• Assist in presenting individual and small-group Montessori lessons, adapting activities to meet each child’s developmental stage and interests
• Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth
• Encourage the development of early literacy, math, and problem-solving skills through hands-on, purposeful work that supports kindergarten readiness
• Prepare and maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children
• Organize materials and clean the workspace to facilitate the learning process for each child

• Assist teachers in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development

Student Support

• Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline
• Provide support for children with diverse learning needs, including occasional or short-term support in small group settings when helpful for classroom participation, emotional regulation, or routines
• Partner with lead teachers to implement student support and/or behavior plans as needed

Operational

• Assist teachers with the full implementation of Bezos Academy’s performance standards, policies, and procedures
• Support Bezos Academy classrooms by following regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the classroom (i.e., cleaning materials, meal prep, nap time transitions, etc.)
• Prepare and maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children
• Organize materials and clean the workspace to facilitate the learning process for each child
• Support children’s increasing independence with daily living skills (i.e., washing hands, using the bathroom, eating meals and snacks, cleaning up, etc.)
• Maintain eligibility and professional growth by obtaining a MACTE-accredited Primary Montessori teacher credential within two years (if not already credentialed)
• As needed, independently supervise children throughout the day in classrooms and a variety of other situations, including but not limited to arrival/departure, transitions, outside time, rest/nap time, and (if offered) extended hours    

Other

• Participate in team meetings, center activities, and staff development

As a Food Service Assistant at Bezos Academy, you’ll help provide nutritious, compliant meals to children at our tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool and provide direct support with a variety of additional tasks both in and out of the classroom. GO Tutor Corps Teacher Residency
Location: Washington, DC
Stipend: $22,000 (prorated pending start date) | Timeline: August 2026 until June 2027

At the GO Tutor Corps, we believe great teachers are homegrown. That’s why we’ve created the GO Residency—a pathway to the classroom for aspiring educators committed to transforming outcomes for students.

The GO Residency is a school-based teaching apprenticeship, spanning 1 to 2 years, designed to support individuals pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and teaching certification. Residents are placed at one of our partner schools where they gain immersive, hands-on experience through our gradual release in a real classroom under the guidance of a seasoned Mentor Teacher. The Residency blends graduate coursework with daily practice, coaching, and mentorship. 

After acceptance into the program, Residents apply to and enroll in a MAT program through one of our graduate school partners. In Washington, DC, we are looking for Residents interested in becoming a future math teacher. Tuition ranges from $11,000 to $25,000 per year, depending on the graduate school program. LOCATION

We are actively hiring for a Montessori Lead Teacher for our location in Renton - North Highlands (3000 NE 16th Street, Renton, WA 98056).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position. 
• The full salary range for this position is $71,000 - $114,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who have been in the role for multiple years and demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
• This role includes 32 paid days of scheduled breaks, 3 paid days of personal time off, 9 paid days of sick (care) time, 10 paid holidays, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree (OR 4 years of Montessori Primary Lead Teacher experience in lieu of a 4-year degree)
• Two or more years of experience as a lead teacher or guide, teaching children from infancy through six years old with strong outcomes
• Demonstrated primary (age 3-6) Montessori knowledge and skills
• Ability to meet all credentialing criteria for lead early childhood teachers in Washington state:
  • 30 college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education OR hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education
• Ability to meet all additional training and eligibility requirements of Washington state, with required documentation uploaded into the MERIT system prior to start of employment
• Experience monitoring and maintaining accurate records on the progress of individual students
• Ability to independently supervise, communicate effectively with, and care for young children safely, including ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Demonstrated personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience working across lines of difference

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Primary diploma from an AMI, AMS, or other MACTE-accredited institute
• Experience teaching or guiding students in a child-led learning environment (i.e., Montessori, Reggio, etc.)
• Experience working with children and families in low-income areas
• Experience working with children with special needs
• Proficient in a language other than English (particularly Spanish)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
• Use the Bezos Academy curriculum and current research-based instructional practices to develop integrated units of instruction that meet both the group and individual needs of students
• Prepare and maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment with the instructional resources needed to meet the development needs of every child in the classroom
• Create an environment that demonstrates rapport with and respect and kindness for, all students as well as between students
• Use Bezos Academy assessment tools/strategies such as observations, children's work samples, continuums of development, portfolios, etc. to help make instructional decisions for individual students
• Monitor and maintain accurate records on the progress of individual students; use school-approved screening and evaluation tools
• Use relevant, approved technology to support instruction
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs
• Establish a positive relationship with families and students, providing regular communication with families about their children
• Maintain teaching skills and participate in professional development activities
• Engage in on-going self-assessment and refinement of practice as well as in collaborative professional growth
• Participate in collegial activities and meetings designed to make the entire school a productive professional learning community
• Support the learning and development of assistant teachers
• If applicable, serve as a supervising teacher for teachers enrolled in Bezos Academy’s in-house Montessori credentialing program, including providing feedback and completing progress evaluations

About You

• Masters’ Degree preferred
• Current Washington certification/licensure in appropriate area
• Washington residency
• Three years of teaching experience, at least 2 of which are in special education preferred
• Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas
• Familiarity with state proficiency testing state teaching standards
• Understanding of and/or willingness to learn the MTSS process
• Prior experience working with a diverse student body

The Virtual Special Education Teacher supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students with a focus on students with an Individualized Education Program.

About the Opportunity

• Assist with the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student served
• Write IEPs in a timely manner
• Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
• Maintain all student records and files according to federal, state and local mandates
• Complete all necessary paperwork within timelines to be compliant
• Complete progress reports as required
• Complete all components of all paperwork
• Work 1:1, in small groups or in whole class sessions with students
• Administer Transition Assessments
• Write lessons plans to accommodate goals in the student’s IEP
• Teach all subjects following the school’s course of study or as assigned
• Schedule and participate in IEP and other meetings for students with disabilities
• Prepare and administer all standardized tests, benchmark assessments and evaluation assessments as directed
• Work with the teaching staff to improve standardized and proficiency testing results
• Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters
• Keep accurate records on each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, psychologists, parents, Administrator, and professionals outside of school
• Work with Related Services to keep evaluations current, updated every three years
• Provide resources for classroom teachers for areas of disability
• Attend professional developments as assigned 

About You

• Masters’ Degree preferred
• Current Washington certification/licensure in appropriate area
• Washington residency
• Three years of teaching experience, at least 2 of which are in special education preferred
• Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas
• Familiarity with state proficiency testing state teaching standards
• Understanding of and/or willingness to learn the MTSS process
• Prior experience working with a diverse student body
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact at all times
• Genuine care for children and a passion for teaching
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications
• Prior experience with software and databases used to maintain Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) compliance including Power School Special Programs
• Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team members
• Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
• Ability to and willingness to work occasional evenings
• Valid driver’s license and ability to perform occasional local and in-state travel
• Ability to pass federal, state and local background checks
• Knowledge of co-teaching models and the ability to co-teach

About You

• Current valid Principal and Teacher license in the state of Washington
• Washington residency preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline
• Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
• Knowledge of state academic content standards
• Minimum seven years of experience in education or related field
• Two or more years of experience in successful school administration/instructional leadership
• Advanced degree in education/educational leadership strongly preferred
• Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining a rigorous academic program that meets the needs of all students
• Experience in public education accountability, compliance, and related legal requirements
