We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll work on the backend of our platform, helping medical device companies get their products to market faster. You’ll take ownership of features from start to finish, designing the architecture, writing the code, and seeing everything through to production. This is a hybrid role in Vienna, with a minimum of three days per week spent on-site. We’re open to remote work for exceptional candidates.

What You’ll Own & Contribute To
Database Design
Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas, write efficient queries, apply indexing strategies, and help ensure the database remains performant and maintainable as the product grows.
Backend Development
Build new integrations between the Ketryx platform and other systems, APIs, and workflows. Contribute to improving latency, throughput, and fault tolerance across the backend stack.
Maintainable Systems
Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to standards around migrations, documentation, and testing. Help ensure the system remains easy to understand, debug, and extend.
Operational Reliability
Participate in monitoring, debugging, and incident response. Help identify performance bottlenecks and reliability issues, and contribute fixes and improvements.
Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Client Operations, Compliance, Security, and other engineers to deliver features that meet both business and regulatory requirements and resolve any technical challenges that come up
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer, with strong experience in backend development
- Solid skills in TypeScript
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL: schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
- Solid understanding of backend performance and maintainability, including refactoring and technical debt management
- Comfortable collaborating across teams and participating in technical discussions and design reviews
- Comfortable working in English and collaborating across teams
Bonus Points
- Experience with Prisma and Next.js
- Experience with GraphQL (urql or Apollo)
- Familiarity with AWS services like S3, RDS, and Elastic Beanstalk

Overview
This position plays a hands-on role securing systems that support critical Defense and Intelligence missions. This position is focused on applying risk management frameworks, engineering security controls, and maintaining system authorizations for cloud and on-prem environments.
You'll work closely with other system engineers, administrators, and program teams to ensure systems are built, assessed, and operated in compliance with DoD and NIST requirements. From managing RMF and ATO packages to driving vulnerability remediation and system hardening, this role is central to maintaining secure, mission-ready systems throughout their lifecycle.
Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Vienna, VA area for this position.
Responsibilities
- Apply RMF processes to support system Assessment & Authorization (A&A), including control selection, implementation, assessment, and continuous monitoring
- Develop, review, and maintain security documentation such as SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and ATO artifacts in tools such as XACTA or eMASS
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and compliance scans (such as ACAS) and track remediation of findings and IAVM requirements
- Implement and validate security controls aligned with NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and related DoD guidance
- Support system hardening, patching, and configuration management in compliance with STIGs for Linux, Windows, and network devices
- Monitor systems for security events and supporting incident response and risk mitigation activities
- Assess security impacts of system changes and supporting configuration control boards (CCBs)
- Collaborate with system engineers, administrators, and DevSecOps teams to integrate security throughout the system lifecycle
- Provide cybersecurity risk input to program leadership, Authorizing Officials (AOs), and stakeholders
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in a similar position, supporting similar responsibilities
- Professional experience with RMF, A&A, POA&M, and ATO documentation (XACTA/eMASS)
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and compliance tracking (ACAS, IAVM)
- Experience securing Linux and Windows systems, STIGs, patching, and system hardening
- Knowledge of NIST 800-series publications and incident response processes

Responsibilities
- Build relationships. Present, demonstrate, and support selling Esri software and solutions as part of the Geo Experience team. Support your team as you help plan and execute sales strategies.
- Be an expert. Become a subject matter expert of various industries as well as a technical expert of ArcGIS. Speak confidently with customers about Esri technologies and thoroughly communicate the Esri message. Be a visionary for your customers anticipating their needs and the technology trends that may impact them.
- Solve problems. Proactively craft and propose solutions that clarify how GIS brings business value to our customers by addressing the critical challenges they face. Define and deliver strategies to customers that align Esri technology with their business.
- Tell our story. Present technical demonstrations of proposed solutions to customers. Successfully design presentations for technical and non-technical customers. Provide best practices related to the use, deployment, and administration of Esri technology. Present at conferences and trade shows.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with Esri technology creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications
- 1+ years of experience in various industries
- Programming and scripting experience with languages such as Python and JavaScript
- Understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context (such as hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud computing)
- Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design as well as an understanding of sales and business development processes
- Experience with geodatabases and underlying DBMS technology
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments (Microsoft Azure or AWS)
- Remarkable presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field

Recommended Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture
- Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms
- Experience incorporating real-time information streams with existing GIS data and IT infrastructure
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence/machine learning concepts
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React), version control, and CI/CD workflows is a plus
- Familiarity with WebGL
- Excellent creative thinking and communication skills
- Design and cartography experience
- Master’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field

Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to join our User Acquisition team! With our current developer moving into an Engineering Manager role, we need an experienced pro to take the lead on building fast, high-quality user experiences. You’ll work with modern tech, use AI tools to boost efficiency, and confidently tackle both new features and legacy code. During onboarding and training by our specialists, you will quickly take over responsibility and manage your own projects and contribute towards making your own impact on our mission "Makes Sports Happen".
Working time: Full-time (35h/week, every second Friday off!)
Location: VIENNA, Austria
Please note that though for many of our roles we offer visa sponsorship, for this Frontend Developer position we are NOT able to sponsor visas.
Your Tasks
- Build and improve frontend functionality that is driving user engagement on our web applications
- Own client applications and ensure that scalability, testability, maintainability, and reusability are key drivers behind your technical implementations
- Contribute to the design system and ensure alignment across teams and domains
- Work closely in your cross-functional team with backend developers to ensure fast delivery
- Gain, challenge, and discuss user insights with your Product Manager and Product Designer to build solutions that really make a difference
- Use pair programming, code reviews, and other techniques to gain and share best practices and continuously improve the code quality of our products
- Explore and implement AI tools to automate repetitive tasks, enhance code quality, and streamline development workflows
- Stay up-to-date on the latest technology trends and innovations and use those insights to find technical solutions to company problems
- Bring your perspective, experience, and drive to the team and contribute actively to a supportive and team-first environment
Your Profile
- 6+ years of experience developing web applications in mid- or large-scale production systems using a major programming language
- Familiarity with AI tools and platforms relevant to frontend development (e.g. Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI GPT, Claude, or similar tools)
- Experience developing web applications with React and TypeScript
- Knowledge in application architecture and modern design patterns for Javascript/TypeScript.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (preferably Next.js, Remix)
- A track record of owning frontend applications and feature delivery from idea to production
- Strong sense for product usability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- German is a nice to have
- Experience consuming information via GraphQL endpoints

Your Tasks
- Develop stable, scalable, and high-performance features and improvements for your team's applications.
- Lead technical discussions, provide solutions, and meet delivery goals.
- Drive modernization, automation, and DX initiatives across teams.

Your Profile

- Experience in legacy system modernization and domain modeling
- Interest in utilizing distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Interest in utilizing cloud services on AWS
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
