Alarm.com is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join the finance and tax team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Tax, this position will work in all aspects of our corporate tax function and with all areas in finance, directly with the businesses and our outside consultant. This position is critical to the Finance Department as it operates to ensure global compliance with tax laws. You will be joining a lean team with high visibility and high exposure to Senior Management and throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of tax matters for Alarm.com and its businesses. Key responsibilities include:
· Coordinate with internal departments to meet data request deadlines of external advisors for all ASC 740, Accounting for Income Tax, tax provision and compliance areas related to annual federal, international, and state and local [income] tax filing obligations.
· Assist in the calculation, documentation and review of various ASC 740 permanent and temporary differences, income tax disclosures and standalone income tax computations and reporting requirements.
· Coordinate with external advisors to complete the annual Federal R&D tax credit study, including data collection, reconciliation and analysis, facilitating communications with internal subject matter experts, as well as preparing all applicable state tax credit calculations and application filings.
· Prepare calculation of nondeductible foreign research and development costs.
· Support preparation and review of workpapers for federal and state income tax returns and ensure alignment with financial reporting.
· Review state income tax apportionment calculations, state income tax returns and certain pro forma Federal income tax returns prepared by the external consultant.
· Assist with income tax exam management, including gathering requested documentation and coordinating responses to auditor inquiries in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
· Support continuous improvement and documentation of internal tax processes and perform necessary SOX controls at the required frequencies.

REQUIREMENTS
· Three to six years of tax experience working in a public accounting and/or corporate tax function.
· Accounting degree, CPA a plus.
· Experience with Alteryx strongly preferred, particularly for optimizing complex tax calculations and transforming large volumes of source data into usable tax workpapers and summaries.
· Experience working with corporate accounting systems (Great Plains experience a plus).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team

The Senior Revenue Accountant will primarily be responsible for ensuring proper revenue recognition and billing of consulting services contracts in support of the Customer Success organization.

In this Role, You Will:
Review draft customer contracts related to Consulting revenue to ensure accuracy of fee tables, billing schedules, payment terms, customer contacts and any terms that would impact revenue recognition in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (ASC 606).
Provide accounting guidance to Legal, Customer Success (CS) and Sales personnel on an as-needed basis.
Assist with updates and maintenance of the percentage-of-completion (POC) file indicating what percentage of fixed price projects are complete and how much should be billed at the end of each month.
Work with the Customer Success Operations team and CS Managers/Directors to ensure completeness of POC updates.
Assist in ensuring new contracts are entered in the accounting systems appropriately, as needed.
Assist in reconciliations and reporting, as needed, related to the Monthly and Quarterly Revenue close.
Support annual audit and quarterly reviews by providing external auditors with requested documentation for revenue transactions being tested.
Identify opportunities to automate manual review and documentation.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
CPA certification preferred but not required.
MS in Accounting preferred but not required.
About You:
3+ years of project revenue accounting experience is required.
Experience with the POC method of revenue recognition for fixed price contracts is strongly preferred.
Experience with ERP financial systems such as NetSuite or SuiteprojectsPro is preferred.
Public accounting experience is preferred but not required.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner regularly with Sales, CS, Legal, senior leadership and external auditors.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet and take full responsibility for recurring monthly deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and increasing responsibility over time.
Technical Skills:
Exceptionally strong project revenue accounting knowledge required.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
ERP financial systems experience is a plus.
