Middle Front-End Engineer (Full-stack oriented)

About the role

We’re looking for a Front End Engineer with a Full-stack mindset to join Matic’s team. Matic is growing rapidly, building a suite of new web products from scratch to make insurance easier for homeowners across the US.

In this role, you won't just be coding mockups. You will own the user interface and the engineering logic behind it. We pay extreme attention to detail – whether it’s architecting a reusable component library or optimizing the state management of a multi-step insurance application. 

While your primary expertise is the Front End, you should be eager to dive into the full stack, leveraging AI capabilities to navigate the backend and ensure features are delivered seamlessly from end to end. We value engineers who use the latest tools to bridge gaps and accelerate delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of modern applications, taking ownership of the UI and the logic that powers it.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of modern TypeScript and JavaScript (ES6+) for building reliable, scalable applications.
• Good experience with React and building fast, reusable components.
• Skilled in writing clean HTML and CSS, focusing on Responsive Design that works well on all screens.
• Experienced with testing frameworks (Playwright,  Vitest) and committed to writing verified, reliable code and contribute to .

• Intermediate English level or higher for clear communication with a global team.

About the role

You'll join one of several teams building the low-level systems behind CAST AI's multi-cloud automation platform. The work sits at the intersection of Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and Linux.

Depending on your strengths, you'll work in one of these areas:

• Cluster and node lifecycle - custom node bootstrapping across AWS, GCP, and Azure. Controllers and operators managing full node lifecycle. Bridging the gap between autoscaler decisions and running VMs - including working around limitations of managed Kubernetes platforms like EKS, GKE, and AKS.
• Cross-cloud provisioning - orchestrating infrastructure across regions and clouds. Workflow orchestration, provisioning integrations, networking and identity across cloud boundaries.
• Live container migration - zero-downtime relocation of running containers using CRIU checkpoint/restore, custom CRI-O and runc forks, and forked cloud CNI plugins. Memory page transfer, TCP session migration, process-level checkpoint/restore. Kernel-level Linux engineering applied to Kubernetes.

Summary

The R&D department plays a pivotal role in driving Shelf to disrupt the market. We are looking for Machine Learning experts that are able to deliver end to end with a blend of experience: Python engineering, ML engineering, and pragmatic Data science and Machine learning research. You will ship end-to-end features—from problem framing and experimentation to service deployment, and ongoing operations—quickly and with high quality. We are expanding our AI/ML function with an ML Engineer who specializes in document intelligence, vision–language models, and LLM-based extraction and reasoning. You should be comfortable with both traditional document AI approaches and cutting-edge GenAI workflows. You thrive in fast-moving environments, are self-directed, and enjoy solving practical ML problems that directly impact customers.

We’re looking for someone with experience in:

• Vision transformers, layout models, and OCR systems
• Structured extraction from complex documents
• RAG for document-heavy workloads
• Optimizing LLM pipelines for cost, accuracy, and throughput
• Deploying and benchmarking models in real production systems

Required Experience

• 5+ years of Python experience
• Experience training, fine-tuning, and deploying traditional computer vision models for document intelligence tasks (layout detection, table extraction, OCR, information extraction)
• Hands-on experience with document understanding frameworks and models:
  • Traditional document AI models (LayoutLM, Donut, DocFormer)
  • Modern vision-language models with OCR capabilities (DeepSeek-OCR, LightOnOCR-1B, etc.)
  • Experience deploying and optimizing models using inference frameworks such as vLLM (preferred), TGI, TensorRT, or ONNX Runtime
  • Experience applying LLMs to document intelligence workflows, including both frontier models and open-source alternatives
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems and spatial reasoning for absolute positioning and field detection in forms/documents

It would be awesome if you had:

• Familiarity with PDF parsing libraries and document preprocessing pipelines
• Experience fine-tuning open-source models for domain-specific document tasks
• Knowledge of evaluation metrics for document understanding tasks (F1, exact match, etc.)

Core UX & Mobile @PandaDoc

• Develop Information Architecture: Design and evolve the overall information architecture of the application, ensuring clarity, logical structure, and seamless navigation across the entire product ecosystem.
• Build Cross-Platform Foundations: Work across both web and mobile platforms to create consistent, scalable experience patterns that adapt to the specifics of each platform while maintaining a unified product vision.
• Establish Core Experience Patterns: Define reusable UX patterns and structural frameworks that serve as the foundation for other teams, enabling them to build features on top of a coherent and well-designed base.
• Collaborate with the Design System Team: Partner closely with the design system to ensure scalability, consistency, and technical feasibility, so that solutions are reusable and easy for other designers and engineers to adopt.
• Enable Scalable Product Evolution: Create a flexible experience framework that allows other teams to layer their solutions efficiently, supporting long-term product growth without fragmenting the user experience.

Role responsibilities:

• End-to-end Process: Independently manage full design cycles, from research through to implementation. Demonstrate a solid understanding of user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
• Design Execution: Craft user journeys aligned with product behavior, user needs, and workflows. Proficient in prototyping, uses design system components and meaningful data to validate both physical and digital interactions.
• Research: Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to gather insights and refine design hypotheses. Iterate designs based on user feedback and research findings to continuously improve the product experience and validate design solutions.
• Design System: Collaborate with the design system team and developers to implement improvements. Identify potential issues in components and the contribution process.
• Collaboration: Proactively communicate changes, project progress, updates, project notes, strategic thoughts, etc. to managers, key stakeholders, and peers. Ensuring visual and functional consistency across all product.
• Advocacy: Promote design principles and user-centered design philosophy across the organization.
• Usability and accessibility: Champion usability and accessibility principles to create intuitive and accessible user experiences. Refine user journeys and interactions to simplify complex workflows and enhance user satisfaction.

Your core competencies:

• Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in interaction design, visual design, information architecture, and design systems. Proven track record in designing sophisticated software products that prioritize intuitive user experiences.
• Expertise: Deep understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and accessibility standards. Understanding of user psychology and human-centered design principles. Bonus points if you have experience in document lifecycle management software.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Framer, Adobe Creative Suite) and a strong understanding of front-end and AI technologies.
• Research: Demonstrated ability to deeply understand user needs through integrating user research into the design process. Proficient in gathering and utilizing both qualitative and quantitative user research to drive informed design decisions.
• Communication: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (B2 in English), with the ability to articulate complex design concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving design issues.
