About the team
Portfolio Solutions is the team within Nu Asset Management responsible for the firm's ETFs and systematic fundos, and the allocation models behind our products and the broader Nubank ecosystem. We believe most of an investor's long-term return comes down to three things: cost, allocation, and discipline. Our job is to deliver all three at scale — which means we treat infrastructure, automation, and AI tooling as core to investment research, not as side projects.
We're looking for a quantitative analyst to strengthen our research, index construction, allocation modeling, and the platform that ties it all together.
What you'll do
- Research, design, and implement indices and systematic strategies across fixed income, equities, and derivatives — including structures such as covered calls, duration barbells, and factor portfolios
- Build and maintain multi-asset allocation models, with attention to efficient replication, tracking error control, and transaction costs
- Run rigorous backtests: no look-ahead, no survivorship, realistic costs. We don't publish a curve without out-of-sample replication
- Help build the quantitative infrastructure of the team: reusable data pipelines, backtest frameworks, monitoring dashboards, and reporting workflows on Databricks. The goal is that every model you build outlives the project it was born in
- Develop AI-powered tools for investment research: LLM-driven analysts on top of our internal datasets, agents for routine analytical tasks, copilots that compress the distance between question and answer for the whole team
- Support the launch of new ETFs — from index methodology to interactions with index prodviders, market makers, administrators, and custodians
- Read papers, replicate results, and tell apart what works from what looks like it works
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field: engineering, math, physics, statistics, economics, computer science, quantitative finance, or equivalent
- 3+ years in quantitative research, systematic asset management, risk, or adjacent roles
- Strong Python (pandas, numpy, scipy). Comfort writing code that other people will read, run, and extend
- Curiosity about — and ideally experience with — building production-grade analytical infrastructure: pipelines, jobs, dashboards, internal tools
- Genuine interest in applying LLMs and AI agents to quantitative work, not just as users but as builders
- Familiarity with the Brazilian market: NTN-B, IMA, Ibovespa, B3 derivatives, local ETF dynamics
- A collaborative, constructive way of working: you ask for help when stuck, you offer help when others are, you document, you review code, you disagree clearly without making it personal, and you give credit generously
- Ability to communicate quantitative results clearly — to portfolio managers, commercial teams, and ultimately to the end investor
Nice to have
- CFA, CAIA, FRM, or a graduate degree in a quantitative field
- Experience with ETFs, index replication, or benchmark construction
- Hands-on Databricks (Workflows, Delta, Unity Catalog, Databricks Apps), version control discipline, MLOps fundamentals
- Experience designing or shipping internal tools, copilots, or RAG systems

No seu dia a dia:
- Apoiar a simulação de matrizes de decisão (What-If). Exemplo prático: Ajudar a calcular se uma redução de 0.10pp na taxa para clientes com 40% de entrada gera volume suficiente para diluir o custo de Funding e PCLD, mantendo o ROA alvo.
- Interface com Data Science: Trabalhar em parceria com o time de modelagem. Você ajudará a levantar hipóteses de negócio (ex: sazonalidade de concessionárias, ações da concorrência) para refinar os modelos e apoiará no backtesting das conversões.
- Monitoramento de Testes A/B: Acompanhar a execução e a mensuração de testes controlados de taxas, ajudando a isolar o impacto do preço de outros fatores de mercado.
- Análise de Dados de Portfólio: Extrair e analisar dados de esteira de crédito, cruzando a conversão de propostas com os drivers do CDC tradicional (Rating/PD do cliente vs. Prazo vs. Down Payment).
Esperamos de você:
- Ensino Superior Completo em Estatística, Matemática Aplicada, Economia, Engenharia, Administração ou áreas correlatas.
- Domínio de SQL para extração de dados, cruzamentos e análises analíticas do portfólio.
- Raciocínio lógico afiado e capacidade de traduzir números em impactos diretos no negócio (evitando a armadilha do "volume pelo volume").
Desejável:
- Conhecimento básico/intermediário em Python ou R para automação de análises e manipulação de dados (ex: Pandas). Você não fará os modelos do zero, mas precisará rodar scripts e consumir os dados.

Data Science at Nubank
Data Science is essential to every part of the business at Nubank, since Day 1. Most areas of the company use data science to some extent. Data Scientists are responsible for translating business needs into models and other types of data-driven solutions.
As a Data Scientist, you’re expected to
- Interact with other team members to understand how to best apply data science and artificial intelligence to Nubank’s problems;
- Investigate problems and discover insights through exploratory data analysis and other quantitative methods;
- Have great numerical and analytical literacy, including knowledge of statistics and linear algebra as needed;
- Work on multiple stages of the ML model lifecycle–from ideation to training and steady-state operation;
- Work across multiple types of models, algorithms and learning paradigms;
- Communicate technical points, decisions and tradeoffs to peers and stakeholders;
Our ideal candidate
- Has experience working with ML models in a production environment;
- Understands possible pitfalls and tradeoffs when applying ML to real-word, sometimes messy problems;
- Is familiar with the technical aspects of learning theory and algorithms and is able to discuss details if needed;
- Has experience working with the Python scientific stack (Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, Sklearn, Boosted Tree Libraries, etc);
- Has experience working with Tensor/Deep Learning libraries such as Tensorflow and Pytorch;
- Is able to connect analytical outcomes to business priorities and advise stakeholders on the best course of action;
- Has good communication skills and is able to convey technical topics and decision points to diverse audiences;
- Has experience writing general-purpose code using modern tools;
- Understands the implications of causality when applying ML to problems;
- Is up-to-date with recent developments in the area as a whole and is able to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation;

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As our customer base continues to grow with the excitement around BrazeAI, we’re expanding our team! Join our Forward-Deployed Data Scientist group of creative technical experts who partner with customers to ensure their success. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with customer Analytics/BI teams and Braze colleagues on implementations, including use case definition, data integration, pipeline setup, and ML model configuration
- Extend product capabilities by improving architecture and developing reusable data pipelines, APIs, and components
- Work closely with the RL pipeline development team to refine and advance our reinforcement learning (self-learning) algorithms
- Contribute to shaping BrazeAI's product strategy and roadmap through customer-facing insights and technical expertise
- Provide ongoing technical expertise to ensure successful adoption, measurable outcomes, and long-term customer success
WHO YOU ARE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical discipline preferred
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role working with large-scale data and production environments. Experience in customer-facing or consulting roles is strongly preferred
- Strong technical expertise: Proficient in Python (Pandas) and core ML libraries (TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost). Skilled in SQL for querying/manipulating datasets, with experience in machine learning pipelines and model deployment
- Engineering best practices: You write well-structured, modular, documented code; follow strong development practices (Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, type-hinting, code reviews); and can build scalable, maintainable solutions
- Nice-to-have skills: Experience with DevOps tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP), data integration/ETL and pipeline optimization, or reinforcement learning algorithms
- Customer collaborator: Comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams, aligning stakeholders, and translating technical concepts into clear business value
- Entrepreneurial problem-solver: You identify opportunities and risks early, troubleshoot obstacles, and drive creative solutions
- Continuous learner: You stay current with industry trends, explore new tools/technologies, and thrive in environments that push you to grow
- Clear communicator: Able to explain complex technical ideas persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences
