Role
We are looking for a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join our Zscaler Digital Experience (Core Intelligence and Data) team. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA 3 days a week, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering. You will join the team responsible for building the world’s largest cloud security platform, helping us enhance services and increase our global footprint. You will play a pivotal role in enabling organizations worldwide to harness speed and agility through a cloud-first strategy, leveraging our multitenant architecture that serves over 15 million users.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
- Own agentic trouble shooting framework, framing high-impact use cases, designing workflows and playbooks, and building processes for all products
- Evaluate and integrate state-of-the-art GenAI advances to deliver reliable and cost-efficient production features, utilizing LLMs, various machine learning models, data processing, fine-tuning, and inference optimization
- Work with the world class cloud platform and data lakes for feature exploration and generation
- Handle volume data with the real time pipeline for data processing and aggregation
- Design, implement, and operate scalable production systems, specifically focusing on microservices, data pipelines, orchestration, and caching

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- BS in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience, or MS/PhD with 5+ years of experience solving real-world problems using AI/ML and distributed systems
- Proficiency in programming, data structures, algorithms, and machine learning, with exceptional problem-solving skills driven by first-principles thinking
- Hand-on experience with AI modeling, including feature generation, prompt engineering, evaluations and productionization
- Experience in the full lifecycle of ML models, including building, deployment, monitoring, and optimization
- Expertise in designing and operating distributed microservices using tools like Kubernetes and Docker, and writing production-grade code in Python, Go, or Java
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience fine-tuning and deploying proprietary SLMs/LLMs at scale, with a focus on optimizing latency, cost, safety, and evaluations
- Experience delivering production-ready AI systems, including expertise in abnormally detection, event correlation and incident investigation
- Proven ability to design and implement high-performance, resilient systems with well-defined service-level objectives

What we do
You’ll join a software engineering team building internal AI solutions that support teams across The Trade Desk. We leverage large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), agentic systems, and enterprise platforms like Microsoft Copilot and Anthropic Claude to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and reduce operational friction.
Our team also plays a key role in AI enablement across the company—supporting teams as they adopt Copilot, Claude and similar tools, designing and deploying custom AI agents, and guiding partners through their AI journey from idea to impact.
As a Senior AI Engineer on this team, you’ll be an end-to-end owner—collaborating closely with stakeholders, identifying opportunities, and delivering tools that make a real impact. We’re a nimble, fast-paced, and highly collaborative group that thrives on transforming the way teams operate and driving greater value across The Trade Desk.
What you’ll do:
Some of the work that you will be doing to help us deliver on our mission is:
- Design and deploy intelligent agentic systems that integrate large language models (LLMs) with enterprise data, tools, and workflows using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and Semantic Kernel.
- Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications using tools like Azure AI Search, vector databases, and secure enterprise connectors to deliver contextual insights.
- Build and deploy agents using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Anthropic Claude, and similar platforms to help teams operationalize solutions within enterprise guardrails.
- Build and iterate on conversational agents that solve real-world problems, meet stakeholder needs, and deliver measurable business value.
- Deliver high-impact features by collaborating across teams, leading through ambiguity, and aligning technical solutions with business goals.

Who you are:
- You have a Bachelor’s/Master’s level degree in computer science or relevant engineering-related field or equivalent experience.
- You have 8-10+ years of software engineering experience, including 1-2+ years working on AI-powered systems or products.
- You are proficient in Python and comfortable with additional languages such as C#, SQL, or TypeScript/React.
- You’re excited about AI enablement, including helping teams adopt platforms like Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic Claude and Copilot Studio, building agents, and guiding others through their AI journey.
- You have a good foundational knowledge of or hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel) and prompt engineering using LLM APIs.
- You have experience productionizing applications and implementing CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable, scalable deployments.
- You are skilled in data ingestion and transformation using APIs, ETL pipelines, and connectors, and familiar with vector databases and retrieval strategies.
- You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences and thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. About the Opportunity
We are seeking an AI Infrastructure Engineer to design and build the foundational systems that power next-generation AI agents. This role sits at the intersection of research and production engineering, focusing on scalable long-term memory, knowledge graph infrastructure, and robust context management systems.
You will transform cutting-edge research concepts (e.g., Context Graphs, GraphRAG, agent memory architectures) into auditable, maintainable, and production-grade infrastructure that enables reliable, stateful AI systems.
What You’ll Be Doing

Architect and implement long-term memory infrastructure for AI agents, including auditable, versioned, and rollback-capable middleware that supports persistent, stateful reasoning.
- Design and own end-to-end GraphRAG and knowledge graph pipelines, from ingestion and schema design to graph indexing, retrieval optimization, and integration with LLM-based reasoning systems.
- Build scalable context management infrastructure, elevating context from prompt-level techniques to structured, maintainable systems such as Context Graphs that enable long-horizon and cross-session reasoning.
- Translate advanced agent research into production-grade systems, prototyping emerging architectures and establishing best practices for memory, retrieval, and infrastructure reliability.
- Ensure reliability, observability, and governance of agent infrastructure, including traceable memory operations, evaluation frameworks, and safeguards against drift and degradation.
What We Look For In You
- PhD or Master's in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Robotics or related field with at least 10 years of industry experience.
- Possess a deep expertise in at least one of the following areas: long-term memory, knowledge graphs, or context management.
