ABOUT THE ROLE:
As an AI Tutor - Earth Science Specialist at xAI, you will be instrumental in enhancing our cutting-edge AI technologies by providing high-quality input and labels using specialized software. You will collaborate closely with our technical team to support the training of new AI tasks, contributing to innovative initiatives. Your responsibilities include refining annotation tools and selecting complex problems from advanced Earth Science fields to drive significant improvements in model performance. This involves gathering or providing data in text, voice, and video formats, including annotations, audio recordings, or video sessions—tasks with which you must be comfortable and eager to engage.

This role is a remote position. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s or PhD in earth science, geophysics, oceanography, atmospheric science, or a highly related field.
- Expertise and specialization in an Earth Science subdomain, including but not limited to oceanography, geophysics, geochemistry, atmospheric science, geology, seismology.
- Proficiency in reading and writing, both in informal and professional English.
- Strong ability to navigate various information resources, databases, and online resources is essential.

- This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, or fully remote.
- The Palo Alto option is an in-office role requiring 5 days per week; remote positions require strong self-motivation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

LOCATION AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS:
- Tutor roles may be offered as full-time, part-time, or contractor positions, depending on role needs and candidate fit.

On average most projects may involve at least 10 hours per week to achieve deliverables effectively though this is not a fixed commitment and depends on the scope of work. ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Confidential Assistant to the ACLU President to serve a two-year, term-limited role supporting the ACLU President who chairs the ACLU Board of Directors. This role is eligible for remote work based out of a United States location.
The President serves as a spokesperson and a public leader of the National ACLU. The President, who is a volunteer board leader and not a member of the staff, collaborates closely with the Executive Director and chairs the ACLU’s National Board of Directors – a 69-member body with representatives from our nationwide network of 54 ACLU affiliates. The National Board oversees policy development covering substantive civil liberties and organizational issues. The ACLU President also leads the National Board’s 12-member Executive Committee tasked with overseeing the organization’s management and financial structures. The Executive Committee, working closely with ACLU Senior Staff, provides expertise and critical leadership on organizational and board matters.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the ACLU President, the Confidential Assistant will be responsible for supporting the ACLU President’s priorities and engagements. Day-to-day, this includes providing one-on-one support and serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the office of the ACLU President. The Confidential Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects from conception to completion and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with independent judgment and discretion including matters related to the budget. While the position is fully remote and principally serves the ACLU President, who is the Jacob K. Javits Professor at New York University and professor of clinical law at NYU Law, it also has accountabilities to the Senior Director of Board Governance in the Executive Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Responsible for a broad range of administrative and logistical tasks for the President including, but not limited to:
- Managing an active calendar of engagements; prioritizing inquiries, appointments, and requests while troubleshooting conflicts;
- Making judgments and strategic recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day and longer-term engagements to maximize the President’s time;
- Completing expense reports;
- Drafting confidential correspondence;
- Arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas
- Advancing meetings, speaking events, and trips as necessary, including:
- Logistical coordination, venue walkthroughs, minute-by-minute scheduling with all contact info, locations, dress codes, etc.
- Security Arrangements: Coordinating with venue or external teams for safety if necessary.
- Preparing Briefing Materials: talking points, bios of attendees or hosts, speech drafts, Q&A prep.
- Contingency Planning: Preparing backup plans for delays, cancellations, or tech issues.

- Occasionally moves or transports materials (e.g., documents and meeting supplies) up to 25 pounds to and from meeting sites.

- Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the President and Executive department at the National organization, as well as other internal departments in a manner that maintains credibility, trust, and support with ACLU senior leadership

- Draft critical deliverables, including personal correspondence and other written assignments

Program Details
Our Postdoctoral Research program is designed for candidates who have completed their PhD within the last two years and worked in their area of expertise since graduation as a postdoc, professor, or industry researcher/scientist. Candidates are expected to demonstrate both independence in defining their research strategy within a domain as well as an ability to apply innovative solutions to our products. Our postdoc research programs are designed to be a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months, with the opportunity to extend beyond the initially agreed term based on the company’s needs and the candidate’s desires.

We are looking for machine learning experts who can utilize applied science and software development skills in building our Foundation Models that help us address some of the hardest problems towards our vision of Saving Lives with Data. - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design, develop, and refine large language models and generative models for various applications.
- Utilize your expertise in machine learning and natural language processing to develop novel algorithms and methodologies for generative modeling tasks.
- Implement, train, and fine-tune LLM and GPT-like models on large-scale datasets to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

Key Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-modal foundation models, and generative AI
- Strong theoretical and practical background in NLP including experience with state-of-the-art architectures
- Proficiency in deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) and libraries commonly used in NLP and Generative AI
- Solid programming skills in Python and the ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide support across the legal, governance, and compliance functions for LawZero. This role reports to the General Counsel & VP, Legal & Corporate Affairs.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, and manage a range of legal agreements, including vendor and service provider agreements, partnerships, grant and donation agreements, IP and data licensing agreements, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Lead the implementation of scalable processes for contract operations.
- Work with the research, product, and engineering teams to ensure legal and responsible AI considerations are embedded in the research and product development lifecycle. Identify and address regulatory, privacy, and other legal risks related to the development of frontier AI technologies.

Two major projects form the core of this role:
- Conflict and dialogue in Nigeria: In collaboration with James Robinson (UChicago) and Soeren Henn (U Wisconsin-Madison), we are analyzing the results of a large-scale field experiment studying how contact between warring groups affects farmer-herder violence in Nigeria's Middle Belt.
- Impact of media on social norms and culture: In collaboration with Joshua Blumenstock (UC Berkeley) and Karrar Hussein (AUB) we are investigating how exposure to western media affect gender norms and gender inequality in an Islamic society. This project brings together novel big data sources and causal identification strategies to understand deep-rooted disparities.
Who we're looking for

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary Professor of Practice to provide academic leadership in business, finance, economic, international trade and related domain areas within the school of business and for the service of the institution as a whole. Job Summary
The Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) is seeking to hire a full-time Research Professional to work with Visiting Professor Brian Greaney and UChicago Professors Adao, Castro-Vincenzi and Rossi-Hansberg on ongoing and new research projects related to spatial economics and economic geography. Applicants must have completed a Bachelors degree by June 2026 and available to begin work in summer 2026.
The Research Professional’s responsibilities will be integral to the projects of the Spatial Dynamics Incubator within the Kenneth C. Griffin Applied Economics Incubator, and will span all stages of research, including collecting and processing tabular and spatial data, developing data pipelines, conducting econometric analysis, running structural simulations, and contributing to manuscripts and presentations. A central component of the role will be the development and maintenance of efficient, well-structured, and fully reproducible code to advance quantitative research in spatial economics and economic geography.
Unit-Specific Responsibilities
- Leads the development and maintenance of scalable, well-documented, and reproducible computational infrastructure for quantitative modeling and simulation in spatial economics and economic geography.

Core Memory: The Sunday Morning Email: A few weeks in, I got a team-wide email from Jacob (our Co-Founder) titled “How to establish a great first connection.” I opened it and froze. He used an email I had sent to a client as the perfect example of what not to do. :’)
It was a tough pill to swallow. I was devastated, but also shocked. I had no idea the leadership was watching so closely or cared that much about an entry-level associate's growth. I didn't quit; I reflected. Jacob kept working with me because he saw me actually listening. Exactly one month later, Jacob shared a new example of perfect client communication with the team. This time, it was me. I traded the lecture notes for a headset and stepped into the limelight.
Seven months in? Promoted to Level I. A year later, my boss, Dylan, asked the ultimate question: “Do you want to grow as a solo contributor, or do you want to lead?” Most people would’ve asked for a manual or a training week.
