At Mercury, we believe that thoughtful design can change an ancient industry shaped by complexity, friction, and indifference—and that intentionality, care, and taste can marry power and beauty, form and function, where these concepts are taken for granted. As we build a radically different kind of banking* experience, design isn’t an aesthetic layer added at the end. It’s how our products are shaped, how decisions are made, and how customers experience us every day.
Design at Mercury is a team of 40+ curious, supportive, and thoughtful designers. We’re looking for a Senior Design Operations Program Manager to join us, reporting to the Head of Design Operations to support our growing design org. Our focus is to improve the quality, efficiency, and impact of Design.
You’ll be an advocate for team health and happiness, always seeking opportunities to improve how we work and deliver an exceptional user experience for Mercury’s users. Build and scale the underwriting foundation for our new consumer charge card (0→1).
Mercury is building a banking* stack for startups. We work hard to create the easiest and safest banking* experience possible to simplify entrepreneurs' and business owners’ financial lives.
We’re launching a premium consumer charge card and are looking for a senior credit risk leader to help build and scale the underwriting strategy from the ground up - and own its performance as the portfolio scales.
Our goal is to build a consumer charge card that delivers a premium experience while maintaining disciplined, data-driven credit risk.
This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role. You’ll take an initial strategic direction and turn it into a scalable, data-driven underwriting program, then monitor, refine, and evolve that strategy post-launch.
As the portfolio grows, this role is expected to evolve into team leadership.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
You’ll join before launch - when foundational decisions are made - and remain accountable for how those decisions perform in-market. You won’t inherit a mature portfolio. You’ll help define how underwriting works, how risk scales, and how this product earns long-term customer trust.
As the consumer portfolio grows, this role has the potential to evolve into a leadership position responsible for building and managing a dedicated consumer credit risk team.
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. A Day in the Life:
A technical sales role encompasses a wide variety of tasks where one day does not look exactly like the next. The projects our team handles are high in volume and unique from one another, spanning throughout the whole course of design, procurement, coordination, and post-sale support.
Typical tasks include:
Two to three full days per week in the office working on bids, one to two days on job sites, and dedicate another day to developing the territory. Territory development may include giving presentations to the engineering community, visiting new customers, or expanding contacts with an existing account.
Comments from some of our sales engineers:
Every day I get to help someone. Whether it's an engineer with a design, a contractor with a troubleshooting issue, or an end user looking for help to obtain better indoor air quality. I get to use my engineering skills, people skills and business skills every day.
Our main "role" is not to sell products but to provide solutions - kitchen ventilation solutions, commercial ventilation solutions, heating/air conditioning solutions. I enjoy getting to work directly with end users and helping them complete their business goals. Attending a soft opening after completing a full design-build project with an owner is rewarding.
I love the balance between working on designs in the office and also having that face to face interaction with our customers. It's awesome to handle the design phase of a project, then also take charge of the procurement process with the end user/customer and lastly watch our equipment perform as designed once installed and the project is complete. I also love the growth aspect of my role, I enjoy molding and shaping our business in order to set it up for success and then see the value we are adding to the market.
