We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d) to build the foundation of Apaleo’s market-facing API layer, bringing agentic booking into hospitality and enabling the next generation of guest-facing AI experiences.

This is a highly autonomous role where you will design and ship the Storefront API, a production-grade, scalable interface that allows external systems (like ChatGPT and booking platforms) to interact directly with Apaleo.

The Role 

The Senior Systems Software Engineer will be a member of the core team building the Quantum Key Distribution system. The focus is on high-performance Python services on Linux, algorithm optimization and acceleration (also via hardware offload), and the role spans defining software architecture, integrating with FPGA/embedded subsystems, and turning requirements into reliable, observable software.  

The Senior Systems Software Engineer leads and co-owns the overall internal QKD software architecture and client-facing software API. By setting engineering standards, mentoring, and unblocking delivery, they ensure predictable releases and a strong execution cadence. 

The Responsibilities 

The Senior Systems Software Engineer should expect to work in the following activities. 

• System architecture
  • Leading and co-owning the QKD software architecture: control plane services, key sifting/postprocessing integration, configuration management, monitoring, and external interfaces 
  • Defining module boundaries and service APIs; evolving the system toward clear data/control-plane separation 

• Efficient implementation and hardware/software integration

We’re now looking for an experienced and proactive Full-stack QA Engineer to join our team to help us with functional and performance testing.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Developing and maintaining an automated testing infrastructure, setting up CI/CD pipelines, selecting and integrating existing tools, and designing new ones.
• Writing and improving automated tests, particularly for APIs.
• Collaborating with the QA and Development teams to design and execute test scenarios.
• Working with logs and monitoring tools (e.g. Kibana, Grafana) to detect functional issues and performance anomalies.
• Ensuring the quality of our distributed AI-powered systems by validating integrations with various language models and APIs.

We would like you on our team if you: 

• Have at least three years of experience in software testing (manual and automated).
• Possess a solid understanding of REST APIs, request/response structures, status codes, and typical scenarios.
• Have hands-on experience with Postman or similar API testing tools.
• Are familiar with writing automated tests for APIs using any programming language or framework.
• Understand distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Have basic Docker skills (running containers, working with Docker Compose).
• Are comfortable reading and interpreting OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Have a basic understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (e.g. OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT).
• Can work well both independently and within a team, demonstrating strong self-management skills.
• Have a good command of English, both spoken and written.

We’d be especially thrilled if you: 

• Have hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Helm).
• Have experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. TeamCity or GitHub Actions).
• Have experience with performance testing tools (e.g. k6).
• Are familiar with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Have worked with automated testing infrastructure and processes.
• Enjoy digging into logs and debugging distributed systems.

We work directly with our potential and existing clients to create technical champions and help envision the use and integration of Klaviyo into our clients' and prospects' technology stacks. We use these engagements as an opportunity to learn, prototype, and bring meaningful improvements to the Klaviyo experience. Here are some examples of what our team has recently built as part of their engagements:

• Writing integration specifications for clients hosting their e-commerce stores on non-standard platforms, to ensure seamless data flow while preserving platform integrity.
• Developing a new integration for Demandware from scratch, demonstrating our ability to expand Klaviyo's partner ecosystem.
• Creating Klaviyo's first public Chrome extension, which allows any marketer or developer to more easily use and audit front-end API calls sent to Klaviyo.

How you'll make a difference:

• You will spearhead the technical pre-sales solution campaign with Klaviyo's Mid Market and Enterprise potential clients to help Klaviyo achieve its revenue goals, including:
  • Technical discovery of clients' current architectures, understanding their business and technical challenges and the opportunities available to them
  • Organizing technical workshops where you will work with developers and business teams to align technical solutions with overall business outcomes
  • Developing and executing value demonstration plans to achieve technical selection over the competition
• You will become a complete expert in the Klaviyo experience, from understanding data pipelines and the codebase of our integrations to understanding the technical trade-offs between different implementations
• Support product alignment in the field by being the voice of our clients' needs and working closely with the Developer Experience team and Product teams to contribute to the Product roadmap
• Be the internal technical reference, training members of the sales team as well as prospects/clients to deliver a consistently positive Klaviyo experience

Who you are:

• 7+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect, solutions engineering, or architecting a software product
• 5+ years in a role working with web development languages (Javascript, Node.js, React); REST APIs; and/or with a general-purpose programming language such as Python
• Strong knowledge in several of the following areas and proven ability to quickly learn new domains: marketing automation tools, customer data platforms (CDP), e-commerce systems, mobile applications, analytics, advertising technology, data science
• Proven ability to track and learn from the constantly evolving technical landscape, as well as integrate modern, optimized solutions to bring value to our clients
• Communicative and open, persuasive and honest, able to bring value to prospects at all levels, from director to developer, with the ability to persuade technical stakeholders and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A salesperson at heart, driven by customer results, able to uncover problems, articulate value, and close technical deals in partnership with account managers; familiar with MEDDPICC and other structured qualification and sales methodologies

As a Solution Engineer at IDnow, you sit at the intersection of sales and engineering. You are a trusted advisor, a platform architect, and a business consultant, all in one. 
You will work alongside our Sales team to qualify, shape, and win complex opportunities — leading the technical discovery, designing solution architectures on our new product platform, and ensuring that every proposal is rooted in a deep understanding of the customer's business pain, not just their technical requirements.

As IDnow transitions from product selling to solution selling, the Solution Engineer role is central to that shift. You will help customers understand not just what IDnow does, but why it matters for their business outcomes — whether that's improving verification conversion rates, reducing fraud losses, or enabling entirely new digital experiences like keyless vehicle access.
