About the Role
As an Operations Specialist in Autonomy Tech Support at DoorDash Labs, you will ensure the successful daily operations of the robot fleet and guide communication between Operations and Engineering teams to track and resolve field operations issues. You will report into the Operations Manager, Autonomy Tech Support and you will be 100% in-office and will require early and late shifts and shifts including weekends.

- Be a primary contact for escalated software and hardware issues encountered during autonomy operations and testing
- Perform initial debugging and troubleshooting to capture important details to identify issue and implement resolution and mitigation steps
- Document new symptoms or failure modes that emerge in the field and work with engineering to determine appropriate mitigation steps
- Use trend analysis to report and triage anomalies, bugs and faults with necessary information to facilitate accurate Engineering investigation and resolution
- Create resolution steps documentation and maintain knowledge base

About the Role
We’re hiring a Support Specialist in our Support Team to assist with experimental products within DoorDash Labs. In this role, you’ll work within our Support Operations to assist with the various tasks relative to handling incoming support calls and cases and making any relevant outbound calls for autonomous deliveries.
This role will be responsible for supporting our customers from all days 6AM-3AMPST.

This position will be a key contributor in working to build out Scale’s data factory in Mexico and in supporting robotics data collection. This is a first of its kind role at Scale and you will have the opportunity to advance Scale’s robotics offerings.
You will:
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to bring up new robots and productionize the maintenance of robots and collection hardware.
- Play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the factory by bringing up and maintaining robots and collection hardware.
- Provide technical support for data collection operations.
- Manage physical inventory, maintain equipment, and coordinate logistics.
- Become a subject matter expert on all capabilities of the robotics platforms deployed in the factory.
- Develop technical domain expertise in areas of 2D and 3D imaging and annotation, multi-sensor fusion and calibration, GPS/INS navigation systems, computer vision, and other autonomy-adjacent concepts.
You have:
- Academic (Bachelors/Licenciatura) or industry experience - Engineering background - preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other Engineering fields.
- 2+ years of experience developing with Python, C++, Java and/or other scripting languages.
- 1-3 years of experience in hardware labs or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing risk and operating robots safely.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills, high attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership.
- High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience in Robotics, AI, and/or Computer Vision.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring our on-site technical facilities operate smoothly while coordinating resource usage and providing hands-on support to remote engineering teams.
These engineers will gain a deep understanding of our physical infrastructure and technical facilities, enabling them to effectively install, configure, and maintain critical systems when needed. A critical aspect of this role will be coordinating access to shared technical resources and serving as the on-site point of contact for remote engineers who need physical changes performed, transforming currently manual coordination processes into a more streamlined and efficient workflow.
You will:
- Install, configure, and maintain robot stations and related technical equipment on-site.
- Manage and maintain server infrastructure, workstations, and computing equipment in our facilities.
- Oversee network installations, including routers and cabling infrastructure.
- Coordinate access to technical facilities, maintaining schedules and ensuring orderly usage of shared resources.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols and usage guidelines for technical facilities.
- Provide hands-on support to remote engineers, performing physical changes and configurations as requested.
- Troubleshoot hardware, network, and connectivity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Document infrastructure configurations, changes, and maintenance procedures to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.

Ideally you'd have:
- 5+ years of experience as an IT Technician, Field Engineer, Facilities Technician, or similar hands-on technical role.
- Proven track record of installing and maintaining server hardware and workstations.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure and physical installation work.
- Experience coordinating shared resources or facilities, managing schedules and access.
- Familiarity with Linux, Windows and MacOS.
- Knowledge of Python/C++, scripting, and command line (cmd/bash) operations.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems for robot stations and equipment.
- Comfort with rapidly changing, fast-paced environments and a passion for finding solutions to complex physical infrastructure problems.

In this role, you'll be a key contributor building production systems for robotics data collection, model training pipelines, and evaluation infrastructure. You Will:
- Own and architect large-scale data processing pipelines for robotics and autonomous vehicle datasets
- Build ML training and fine-tuning pipelines using Scale's robotics data
- Work across backend (Python, Node.js, C++), and frontend (React, TypeScript) stacks to build end-to-end solutions
- Develop tools and real-time systems for robotics data collection, teleoperation, model evaluation, data curation, and data annotation
- Interact directly with robotics and AV stakeholders to understand their technical needs and drive product development
- Design comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks for robotics models and data quality
- Solving complex, late-stage industry challenges in concurrent and real-time robotic systems, with strict attention to timing constraints and data integrity. This often involves deep investigation, reviewing academic papers, and direct collaboration with robotics vendors
- Collaborate with ML engineers and researchers to bring robotics research into production
- Deliver features at high velocity while maintaining system reliability and performance
Ideally, You Have:
- 3+ years of high-proficiency software engineering experience, with a strong background in complex systems and the ability to independently research, analyze, and unblock hard technical problems.
- Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript/Node.js for production systems
- Experience with React and modern frontend development for 3D interfaces
- Concurrent and real-time systems, with special attention to timing constraints
- Understanding of distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Temporal, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and data processing at large scale
- Track record of working with cross-functional teams including ML engineers, researchers, and customers
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate with high autonomy
