Job Summary: 

Ruggable is seeking a highly creative, detail-driven Textile Designer to join our Textile Design Team. This role requires a strong design point of view, technical precision, and the ability to translate inspiration into thoughtfully executed, production-ready rug designs.

The ideal candidate brings a balance of creativity and rigor—demonstrating refined taste, strong drawing and composition skills, and a deep understanding of textile construction and engineered pattern design. You are highly organized, fluent in Adobe Photoshop, and motivated to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering best-in-class products.

What You’ll Do: 

• Develop original textile and rug designs that reflect a strong point of view while aligning with the Ruggable brand aesthetic
• Translate trend, vintage, and cultural references into ownable, production-ready designs
• Own design development from concept through final file delivery, incorporating feedback and refining work through multiple iterations
• Create technically precise, well-organized files that meet production specifications, including engineered layouts and repeat systems
• Partner closely with design leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on creative direction, timelines, and product goals
• Contribute to a high standard of creative rigor through thoughtful critique, attention to detail, and continuous refinement
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

What You’ll Need to Have:

Required: 

• Degree in Textile Design (or related field) with 3–5 years of relevant experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating original textile designs, with a clear point of view and understanding of pattern, color, and composition
• Experience designing for textiles or rugs, including knowledge of engineered patterns and production considerations
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop; working knowledge of Illustrator
• Exceptional technical skills, including file organization, color accuracy, and preparation of production-ready artwork
• Strong ability to interpret creative direction, apply feedback, and iterate quickly
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to own projects end-to-end
• Clear, professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Preferred: 

• Experience or strong interest in home textiles, interior design, or rug/carpet design
• Portfolio that includes traditional, Persian, vintage-inspired, or ornamental design work
• Familiarity with textile-specific tools or workflows (e.g., Texcelle, NedGraphics)
• Sensitivity to color, materiality, and how designs translate from screen to physical product
• Experience with project management and other design programs (Airtable, Figma, etc.)

Contract Details:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required. 
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
• Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
• Strong creative design portfolio is essential as are strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
• Travel as required.

What You’ll Do:

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and finalizing textile print files for production, including repeats, color setup, and technical specifications
• Scaling designs accurately across multiple sizes while maintaining design integrity and proportion
• Ensuring accuracy of layered files, including overlays, textures, and distressing elements
• Support color consistency across various production formats to ensure alignment from digital to physical output
• Reviewing and adjusting artwork based on samples and production feedback
• Managing and organizing files with strong version control, naming conventions, and calendar adherence
• Prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines
• Identifying workflow efficiencies and contributing to process improvements

• Willingness and availability to work during peak business periods - weekends, holidays, etc
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and experience with POS and Inventory Management systems, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Comfortable working in a team environment
• Must be able to lift and move heavy objects (20 pounds or more) from time to time as required

PART TIME GALLERY ASSOCIATE - LOS ANGELES

APPARATUS is a New York-based designer and manufacturer of a distinctive catalog of high-end, high-touch lighting, furniture and objects. We produce both in-house and with the support of high-quality external partners; our catalog is sold globally.

The Gallery Associate serves as the first point of contact for visitors to our Los Angeles gallery, embodying the APPARATUS brand through exceptional client service and deep product knowledge. This role is critical in creating memorable brand experiences, facilitating client connections, and maintaining the gallery's operational excellence while supporting the broader sales team's objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Experience & Brand Representation

• Serve as an initial point of contact for visiting clients, vendors, and colleagues.
• Set a high standard of on-brand warmth and professionalism in welcoming visitors into the space.
• Develop a deep knowledge of and become an expert in APPARATUS product and brand story.
• Conduct tours of the galleries and studio space for clients, sharing product and brand knowledge in an engaging way.

Client Relationship Management

• Ensure details of guests are recorded to connect them with the appropriate Client Manager, if available connecting clients with Client Managers with in-person introductions.
• Provide client follow-up with post-tour emails including tear sheets, digital catalog, and Client Manager in CC.
• Track gallery foot traffic daily.
• Provide phone support; assist callers with essential questions about the brand and product including brand history, collections, finishes, pricing, lead times.

Operational Support

• Consistently seek to assist the APPARATUS team with client needs and in developing and delivering solutions to maintain the highest level of client experience.
• Manage general opening and closing duties -- preparing for showroom walk-throughs, lighting levels, object/furniture placement, incense burning.
• Maintain stock levels of finish samples, incense, waters, cleaning and guest restroom products.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven showroom, sales, or sales assistant experience or similar client-facing role.
• Knowledge and interest in contemporary design.
• Experience in a business that requires a team to execute the common vision, understands the value of the individual and the team.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both digitally and in-person.
• Proven ability in a high-paced environment that values consistency, efficiency, and excellence.
• Administrative or interior design assistant experience helpful.
