We envision, design, prototype and implement the processes that feed Quantitative Research and Discretionary Trading teams as well as the broader firm. Responsibilities

You will be part of a growing team within Data Science. You will work alongside world-class talent to find innovative solutions to some of the most interesting problems in the buy-side. You will work closely with other areas such as Technology, Quantitative Research and Portfolio Manager groups as well as Risk and Operations to learn about problems they face with respect to data and ultimately develop cutting edge solutions. Your focus will be to dive deep into multiple data sets to understand relationships, develop time series, forecasting models, and support quant strategies, and provide new insights and leverage state-of-the-art machine learning and advanced statistical methods to produce the best data sources for the fund.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or other quantitative discipline
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Machine Learning and Statistics on large, unstructured, data sets
• Experience writing production code for multi-client systems serving model results is a great plus
• Ability to clearly communicate research findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
• Full-stack experience with Python (preferred) or C++, Spark/Scala, SQL or other distributed data processing technologies as well as experience working comfortably building and deploying services and models in containerized environments
• Experience with scientific computing, statistics, optimization, time series, panel data, etc.
• Comfortable handling multiple projects to solve varied problems working with multiple teams

This role requires commuting into the office Mondays through Fridays.

Base Salary Range

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000.  The anticipated range is based on information as of the time this post was generated. The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience, skills, and qualifications.

About The Role

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Cloud

Location: Guilford, Connecticut

This role is for talented Software Engineers with applied experience in building modern cloud services and web applications. The goal of this role is to design and develop key software systems for remote setup, management, and monitoring of our fleet of devices and ingestion, storage, visualization, and retrieval of data at a large scale. This engineer will work closely with other software engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, and subject matter experts across the organization to implement solutions for a wide range of challenging clinical problems in MRI aimed at improving patient outcomes.  Across the organization they will make a significant contribution to the company’s overall vision of developing cloud services with a delightful look and feel. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop software systems and cloud applications with focus on maintenance, extensibility, integration, and security of data storage and retrieval. 
• Quickly learn new tooling, platforms, and frameworks, when building and developing microservices and APIs. 
• Adoption of new policies, technologies, and practices, as well as the evolution of existing methodologies. 
• Implement comprehensive medical web application systems for multiple large-scale internal and external facing projects and document the design and specifications for internal and regulatory documentation. 
• Participate in the code review process. 
• Collaborate with software and cross-functional teams in design and technical reviews. 
• Define high-level architecture, design and implement software solutions, assume accountability for the deployment and release of contributed code, and support the post-release lifecycle of our products. 
• Mentor and support other engineers on the cloud team in your areas of expertise. 
• Maintain familiarity with compliance standards mandated within a regulated medical device environment. 
• Contribute code to a medical device software for cloud connectivity, including OTA (Over-the-air updates), Telemetry, User Management, MIoT (Medical Internet of Things), and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) relay.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

• Building modern cloud services on AWS, GCP, or Azure. 
• Backend web development, including best software engineering practices, efficient object-oriented software design, and building modern back-end systems (Python). 
• Building and developing APIs and restful web services (Node.js, Flask/Nginx, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy). 
• Front-end web development (Javascript, Typescript) and modern frameworks (React). 
• Working with Product and UI/UX designers, translating wireframes and requirements into web applications. 

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years’ of work experience; or Masters Degree in Computer Science and 5+ years of work  experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Prior experience working in a regulated environment preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Top-notch written and communication skills in English. 
• Ability to take part in on-call rotation to maintain service uptime.
• Ability to use and program a computer for 8 hours a day, five days a week.

The annual base salary for this position is between $143,500 - $165,000. This position is also eligible for to participate in Hyperfine's corporate bonus and equity plans. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate including skill set, relevant experience, qualifications, location, position level, and other job-related reasons.
