As our inaugural Senior Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Overstory’s systems, data, and reputation. Partnering closely with your manager - the Director of Information Security and Compliance - you will take ownership of our security and compliance posture, and define, implement, and continuously improve our security program.

You will lead initiatives across vulnerability management, compliance, and security operations, while acting as a trusted partner to engineering, product, and business teams. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on technical expertise with a strategic mindset and enjoys building scalable security practices in a growing company.

Time Zone Requirement: Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST)

What You’ll Do

• Own and evolve Overstory’s compliance program, ensuring ongoing alignment with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other relevant frameworks
• Drive vulnerability management end-to-end, from detection to remediation, working closely with engineering teams to prioritize and resolve risks efficiently
• Design and improve security processes and controls across infrastructure, applications, and internal systems
• Lead security input in architecture and engineering decisions, helping teams build secure-by-design systems
• Oversee and improve identity and access management, endpoint security, and core IT security practices
• Own vendor security and third-party risk management, including assessments, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategies
• Lead audit readiness and execution for SOC 2 and ISO 27001, including control design, evidence collection, and auditor coordination
• Partner with customer-facing teams to handle security questionnaires and build scalable, high-quality response processes
• Contribute to security awareness and culture, mentoring others and raising the security bar across the organization

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations, or a related field
• Direct experience with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001, including audit processes
• Deep experience with vulnerability management, including tooling, prioritization, and remediation workflows
• Fluency working across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern SaaS ecosystems
• Experience with identity and access management, endpoint security, and IT/security operations
• Demonstrated ability to translate security risks into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrable experience (or at a minimum a serious interest in) leveraging AI tooling to accelerate business impact.
• Strong written communication skills and are comfortable owning documentation and audit artifacts
• Demonstrable proactive, pragmatic mindset as well as capacity for balancing security best practices with business needs
• Experience working cross-functionally influencing without authority in a remote-first environment

• Experience designing or improving SIEM, logging, and alerting pipelines

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for coordinating and executing the internal audit at the IEM manufacturing plant/s.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct internal audits across departments to assess risk and control effectiveness
• Develop audit plans, scope, and objectives based on risk assessments
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies
• Prepare clear and concise audit reports with actionable recommendations
• Collaborate with management to implement corrective actions
• Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations
• Assist in the development and refinement of internal audit procedures
• Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices

COMPETENCIES:

• Skills: Must have strong Problem Solving and Analytical abilities. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, preferably in a regulated industry.

• 2+ years of experience in auditing or related field
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, risk management, and internal controls
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity

• Prior experience in Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance is strongly preferred.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accounting Manager undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Accounting and Financial Reporting:

• Responsible for the preparation and review of accurate financial reporting for North America (Canada, USA) as it relates to manufacturing and retail operations.
• Own month-end/ year-end close governance and execution, including close calendar ownership, deliverable tracking, and on-time completion.
• Lead the monthly review process, including balance sheet review, income statement analysis, and ensuring reconciling items are understood, resolved, and appropriately escalated.
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Payroll, Tax, and AP leadership to ensure complete and accurate close inputs and outputs.
• Support planning activities by providing high-quality actuals and close insights that feed budgeting and forecasting (for example, trend analysis, key drivers, and variance explanations).

Audit, Group, and External Reporting  Leadership

• Facilitate the year-end audit end-to-end for the North America scope: develop the audit timeline, coordinate internal readiness, and serve as the primary point of coordination for auditor requests.
• Lead audit coordination and governance: partner with external auditors to align timelines, manage deliverables across stakeholders, remove blockers, and escalate risks early to ensure audit deadlines are met.
• Connect auditors to the right process owners, coordinate walkthroughs and inquiries, and ensure follow-ups are tracked through to completion.
• Lead the identification, escalation, and resolution of complex accounting and reporting matters, including performing technical accounting research, documenting conclusions, and aligning stakeholders on the path forward.
• Own technical accounting memo ownership where needed to support audit, external reporting, and internal decision-making.
• Provide support to the tax team as it pertains to statutory requests and tax audit support (IRS/CRA and sales tax audits, corporate tax support as needed).
• Support reporting needs to stream owners and UK head office as applicable.

Business Partnering and support:

• Maintain strong working relationships across the business to promote alignment and efficient issue resolution.
• Gain a thorough understanding of stakeholder expectations and leverage accounting resources and knowledge to meet those expectations.
• Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information to support reliable decision-making.

• Provide support to the tax team as it pertains to IRS/CRA & sales tax audits, transfer pricing, corporate taxes and any other ad hoc statutory requests.
• Assist with reporting to stream owners and head office in UK where applicable

Process Improvement and Controls:

• Review current accounting processes and identify areas for improvement, standardization, automation, and risk reduction.
• Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, controls, and documentation to create time savings and improve consistency across business units.

People Leadership, Coaching, and Development:

• Set clear expectations and measurable performance standards for the team (close quality, timeliness, reconciliation rigor, audit readiness, and control adherence).
• Coach and develop managers on delegation, review standards, and running an effective operating cadence (weekly priorities, close kickoffs, post-close retrospectives, and structured escalation).
• Build bench strength through cross-training and documented back-ups for critical close, cash forecasting, hedging, and audit coordination tasks.
• Drive role clarity and capability development across the team through recurring 1:1s, targeted feedback, and training plans that improve technical depth and execution over time.
• Ensure the AP function is appropriately governed through the AP Manager (day-to-day ownership sits with the AP Manager; this role focuses on close linkage, controls, and cash forecasting inputs).

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

• Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent with 7+ years progressive accounting experience post-designation
• Proven experience in high growth multi-national ecommerce and multi-location in the retail or manufacturing industry.
• Proven ability to ensure efficient and accurate day to day accounting tasks are completed while maintaining a view and leading the progress towards the longer-term needs of the business.
• Proven success in training, development of others, and leading and building strong, stable, high-performing teams.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone with early-career experience who is ready to take on more ownership and expand their exposure across the full accounting cycle.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to join our team and play an integral role in strengthening our food safety culture and protecting the integrity of the Open Farm brand.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory, this role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust food safety and quality systems across Open Farm’s supply chain and co manufacturing network. The Manager will ensure that all products consistently meet our premium quality standards, regulatory requirements, and certification commitments, while supporting compliance across North America and applicable export markets. This role will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Product Development, and external manufacturing partners to drive alignment, continuous improvement, and consistent execution.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, proactive, and deeply committed to food safety and quality excellence. This role is critical to upholding the trust our customers place in Open Farm by ensuring every product reflects our commitment to transparency, safety, and responsible sourcing, helping deliver safe, high quality nutrition for pets.

What You Will Own and Drive

Food Safety Program Management 

• Maintain and enhance Open Farm's food safety programs, including HACCP plans, GMPs, allergen management, sanitation standards, and recall/traceability protocols
• Lead readiness for and management of third-party audits (SQF, BRCGS, or equivalent) across co-manufacturing partners
• Monitor and respond to food safety incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
• Maintain current knowledge of FSMA regulations and ensure ongoing compliance across all applicable facilities and suppliers 

Quality Assurance & Supplier Management 

• Establish and enforce quality standards for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods in partnership with co-manufacturers and ingredient suppliers
• Conduct supplier qualification audits, review COAs, and manage ongoing supplier performance scorecards
• Review and approve product specifications, formulations, and changes in collaboration with R&D and Procurement
• Manage incoming material inspection programs and finished goods release protocols 

Co-Manufacturing Oversight 

• Serve as the primary FSQA contact for co-manufacturing partners, building strong relationships and driving continuous improvement
• Conduct on-site facility visits and audits; evaluate compliance with Open Farm's quality expectations and applicable regulations
• Review and approve co-manufacturer food safety plans, sanitation programs, and quality documentation 

Consumer & Regulatory Compliance 

• Support the management of consumer complaints, trending data, and escalations; identify systemic issues and drive resolution
• Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory submissions and market authorizations 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement 

• Partner with Co-Manufacturing, Procurement, R&D, and Customer Experience teams to embed quality thinking into product development and supply chain decisions
• Develop and deliver FSQA training programs for internal teams and co-manufacturing partners
• Build and track KPIs related to quality, food safety, and supplier performance; report regularly to senior leadership
• Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defects, waste, and risk across the supply chain 

What you bring to the table:

Education & Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Nutrition, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive experience in food safety and quality assurance, preferably in pet food, human food, or a regulated consumer goods environment
• Direct experience managing co-manufacturing or contract manufacturing relationships
• Hands-on experience with HACCP plan development, internal auditing, and third-party certification programs (SQF, BRCGS, or equivalent) 

Technical Knowledge 

• Strong working knowledge of FSMA (Preventive Controls for Animal Food), AAFCO guidelines, CFIA regulations, and FDA requirements as they apply to pet food
• Familiarity with dry kibble, wet/canned, freeze-dried, and raw pet food manufacturing processes is a strong asset
• Experience with ERP systems and quality management software
