Who We Are
Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology company that invents and builds platform companies that change the world. We bring together the greatest scientific minds with entrepreneurial company builders and assemble the capital to allow them to take courageous leaps. Those big leaps in human health and sustainability exponentially accelerate scientific progress in areas ranging from cancer detection and treatment to nature-positive agriculture.
What sets Flagship apart is our ability to advance biotechnology by uniting life science innovation, company creation, and capital investment under one roof in a way that is largely without precedent. Our scientific founders, entrepreneurial leaders, and professional capital managers are each aligned around an institutionalized process that enables us to innovate and transform for the benefit of people and planet.
Many of the companies Flagship has founded have addressed humanity’s most urgent challenges: vaccinating billions of people against COVID-19, curing intractable diseases, improving human health, preempting illness, and feeding the world by improving the resiliency and sustainability of agriculture.
Flagship has been recognized twice on FORTUNE’s “Change the World” list, an annual ranking of companies that have made a positive social and environmental impact through activities that are part of their core business strategies, and has been twice named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on engineering role. You will own the build and deployment of AI-powered workflows and systems across business functions, from intake through production. Iterative Health is a healthcare technology and services company powering the acceleration of clinical research to transform patient outcomes. The Iterative Health Site Network is a premier network of 100+ clinical research sites across the US and Europe, accelerating the path to market for novel therapies. By combining deep expertise in clinical trials with cutting-edge AI, we empower research teams and study sponsors to expand and expedite access to novel therapeutics for patients in need.
About the Role
Accelerating clinical research is one of the defining challenges in healthcare. Promising therapies exist that patients can't access because the operational infrastructure to run clinical trials efficiently doesn't exist yet. We're building it. That means designing technology systems that bring order to a fragmented landscape of clinical data sources, automating the operational work that slows trials down, and turning real-world clinical data into a foundation for predictive intelligence.
We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to own the design and implementation of the core systems that make this possible. This means building robust integrations across a complex, fragmented landscape of EHRs, CTMS platforms, and clinical data sources, each with its own data models, access patterns, and operational constraints. It also means building the data infrastructure that powers our predictive capabilities: the pipelines, feature stores, and training infrastructure that allow us to move from raw clinical data to models that meaningfully improve trial execution. This is a generalist role for someone who thinks in systems. You'll move between architecture and implementation, between integration engineering and ML infrastructure, between defining technical strategy and writing the code that proves it out. The problems are genuinely hard, largely unsolved, and what you build will matter.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be a part of a small, fast moving engineering team at a formative stage. You'll shape what gets built, how decisions get made, and what the team becomes.
Responsibilities
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
At Iterative Health, we’re actively working towards creating an environment that is representative of the diversity of patients our technology serves. We are focused on building an equitable and inclusive culture, and by extension, hiring process. If you require any accommodations to make the application process or interviewing experience more accessible to you, please contact CandidateAccommodations@iterative.health.

That means designing technology systems that bring order to a fragmented landscape of clinical data sources, automating the operational work that slows trials down, and turning real-world clinical data into a foundation for predictive intelligence.
We're building a uniquely valuable data asset: real-world patient and research data flowing across 80+ trial sites, spanning dozens of EHRs and clinical systems, focused on patient populations that are chronically underserved by existing clinical research infrastructure. Your job is to build the pipelines, data models, and AI infrastructure that make this asset real, from ingestion and normalization through to the systems that power predictions on top of it. You'll own data quality and observability as foundational engineering problems. You'll also have a direct hand in shaping how this data drives our AI strategy, what we model, what we predict, and what becomes possible.

Principal RF Engineer
You will own the mathematical and physical foundations of one of the few operational commercial space-based RF geolocation systems in active customer use today. The core problem: estimating the position of RF emitters using time difference of arrival (TDOA), frequency difference of arrival (FDOA), and angle of arrival (AoA) measurements collected by a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. You will formulate estimation problems, develop and validate algorithms, characterize error sources, and drive performance improvements across all three measurement domains.
You will inherit a working production geolocation system. This is not a greenfield research project. The algorithms exist, they run, and they produce results for real customers. Your job is to understand the existing system deeply, identify where performance is limited, and systematically improve it. Over time you will also extend the system with new measurement types and capabilities as mission requirements evolve.
This is a hands-on, iterative role operating on real-world data with all its imperfections. Calibration is incomplete. Truth data is sparse. Operational constraints require pragmatic engineering tradeoffs. You will spend significant time examining real geolocation outputs, diagnosing performance issues, refining algorithms based on what the data shows, and shipping incremental improvements. The work cycle is not "design an algorithm and hand it off." It is: analyze outputs, identify the limiting error source, develop or refine an algorithmic solution, validate it against data, and repeat. You will work alongside software engineers who handle production implementation and infrastructure; your role is to ensure the algorithms are correct, well-understood, and continuously improving.
You will write code daily. Python is the primary tool for prototyping, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm validation. This is not a pure research position; the expectation is that you are building, testing, and iterating on working code, not producing papers.

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.

The Advanced Development team at Roku pushes beyond today’s product lines to invent the next generation of intelligent and generative media systems.
We explore ideas that sit years ahead of production, developing foundational technologies that will redefine how content is understood, created, and personalised across millions of Roku devices.
This is a rare environment — a PhD-level, cross-disciplinary group combining machine learning research, software engineering, and DevOps.
Everyone here is an expert, but not narrowly focused. The team blends deep technical mastery with broad creative vision — people who challenge convention, embrace ambiguity, and build what’s never been built before. It’s a collaborative, low-ego, ownership-driven culture built on trust and curiosity.
We’re seeking an Applied Scientist with a strong foundation in mathematics, machine learning, and computer science, combined with experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, and computer vision — someone who thrives where research meets production.
As a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll help design, build, and deploy the systems that make media smarter.
You’ll work across the full model and software lifecycle, from prototype to production, developing scalable ML pipelines and cloud architectures that power generative AI, intelligent media understanding, content analysis, and advertising intelligence.
You’ll operate at the intersection of machine learning, infrastructure, and software engineering, taking ownership from data collection through deployment — and seeing your work directly influence how audiences experience Roku’s content and advertising ecosystem.
Deploying scalable, fault-tolerant computer vision, media understanding, and generative AI systems to production
Overseeing the full model development cycle: ideation, prototyping, implementation, deployment, testing, and operations
Designing uncertainty metrics and communicating results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Gathering and compiling datasets, defining annotation ontologies, auditing annotation operations, and ensuring data quality
Staying up to date with industry and academic trends in computer vision, machine learning, and generative models for media and advertising
Working closely with product and other engineering teams to implement new content and advertising experiences through cloud services
Integrating services from other teams around the company, while also providing reusable ML services to others
Evaluating and providing feedback on new platform technologies provided by internal teams
Working with QA teams to address bugs and contribute to automation and quality assurance
A Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
Strong background developing applied machine learning systems using PyTorch or TensorFlow
Expertise in image processing, computer vision, or natural language processing
Experience using AWS, GCP, or Azure for storing data, training, and serving models
Proven ability to evaluate models and communicate insights effectively
Experience building APIs with frameworks such as GraphQL or REST
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Argo, AWS Step Functions, or Metaflow
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD automation, and Python build or packaging tools

At Philo, we’re a group of technology and product people who set out to build the future of television, marrying the best in modern technology with the most compelling medium ever invented — in short, we’re building the TV experience that we’ve always wanted for ourselves. In practice this means leveraging cloud delivery, modern tech stacks, machine learning, and hand-crafted native app experiences on all of our platforms. We aim to deliver a rock solid experience on the streaming basics, while cooking up next generation multi-screen and multi-user playback experiences.
Video is at the core of Philo and what customers engage with the most: watching their favorite shows. The Video Infrastructure team is crucial for delivering on this high expectation, and — together with the Ads team — for generating significant revenue through advertising. We own the systems that get every frame of Philo to every screen: live and video on demand transcoding, DRM and license servers, manifest generation that holds up under peak live events, and Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI). We support playback across all major streaming platforms, and partner closely with the Ads, Client, and Data teams to build out the end-to-end video player and ad experience. We increasingly apply machine learning to inspect both content and ads — surfacing quality issues, optimizing encodes, and improving the viewing experience in ways that weren't possible a few years ago.
Philo's video streaming infrastructure is highly distributed, horizontally scalable, and harnesses the power of cloud computing to deliver video at exabyte scale. Our video pipeline, developed in-house, uses industry-leading commercial and open source components to transcode, package in real-time, and generate HLS and DASH manifests on a per-user, per-session basis. The team also builds and maintains highly available RESTful web services that dynamically scale to meet the ever-increasing demands of simultaneous video streams across our platform.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to help us build and optimize the next generation of our video ingest, transcode and delivery platform. This is a high impact role that influences every video stream that Philo serves. If you endeavor to see how your work directly impacts end-users this is the role for you.
Ideal Qualifications:
Bonus Points:
We are language agnostic, but most of our backend code is written in Golang, Ruby and NodeJS, with some C++ and Python. Our services run on Kubernetes, and we practice continuous deployment across all of our systems.
