About the team:
Our department's vision is to build a Data-Driven IONOS Group. Our mission is to connect AI and BI, to evolve our platforms and to empower our customers.
As the central provider of the BI platform for Corporate-, CTO-topics and state-of-the-art AI solutions we are supporting data driven decision making all across the IONOS Group.
Taking these strategic objectives the team focuses on the white spots in our CTO area which can be optimized with modern analytics abilities.
The team fulfills the full stack development lifecycle over each of the Plan, Build and Run responsibilities. This means we engineer requirements, develop, test and deploy our deliverables by always staying in close touch with our stakeholders.
On a functional project level as Business Intelligence team we are responsible for delivering insights on different data sources for our CTO area with its 11 divisions.
We are also currently building our new big data platform based on the IONOS cloud. Among other things, the platform uses Trino, Hive and Airflow. The whole system is orchestrated by a private managed Kubernetes.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will actively help shape this new cloud big data platform together with your colleagues, share responsibility for the operation of our technical data processes, carry out deployments, and support operational stability.

- Monitoring the operational processes for which you are responsible;
- Continuous and independent further development of operational process definitions;
- Collaboration with colleagues from different disciplines and levels of experience.

What you will be doing, your legacy:
You will be working directly with company Principal Engineers evaluating, scoping, proposing, and building features to fulfill business solution requirements to protect our customers. You will play a direct role in laying the technical foundation for a new product offering. Additionally, you will be working with Engineering and DevOps to deliver high-quality products and services while also working closely with security and IT professionals to ensure safe and secure best practices are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and Design Scalable Data Solutions: Design/develop/maintain Data lakehouse solutions (Iceberg/Delta Lake /Hudi) applying industry best practices and structuring / optimizing the data according to data access patterns.
- Data Pipeline Development: Implement ETL/ELT pipelines using cloud technologies (Spark / pySpark / Glue, Kinesis Streams / Iceberg) to load the data into a Lakehouse for both efficient ML processing and UI reporting.
- Implement data models and data processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, Snowflake) to ingest, transform, and load large datasets into Data Lakehouse techs (Apache Iceberg, Apache Delta Lake or Apache Hudi), ensuring high availability and reliability of data.
- Advanced Data Integration: Develop solutions that integrate multiple data sources into Snowflake or similar data warehouses to enable real-time analytics and reporting across dashboards.
- AI/ML Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to co-develop AI-driven features identifying patterns and anomalies in client data using AI/ML technologies (python).
- Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with industry standards and secure best practices (SOX, SOC 1/2), by implementing data governance frameworks, monitoring data pipelines, and optimizing cloud database architectures to protect sensitive information.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including analysts, engineers, and product managers, to understand their data needs, propose solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making by delivering actionable insights.
- Data Infrastructure Monitoring: Continuously monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance data pipelines, leveraging CI/CD tools (Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and orchestrating workflows using Apache Airflow to maintain operational efficiency.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Provide hands-on mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, including code reviews and architecture discussions.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with a deep understanding of data architecture and cloud-based ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Strong experience with AWS (preferably) or Azure , particularly with Glue, EMR, S3, Lambda. Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse experience is a bonus.
- Proficiency in big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, and Databricks for distributed data processing.
- Proficiency with Python libraries for data processing and ML (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Polars, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Hands-on experience in building real-time data processing and AI/ML-driven analytics solutions (SageMaker, Bedrock, NLP, Power BI).
- Ability to architect and manage data lakehouse solutions (Iceberg / Delta Lake / Hudi) or classic warehouse solutions (Redshift, Snowflake).
- Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements (SOX, SOC 1/2, GDPR) and implementing data governance and security frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on data integrity, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker) and data orchestration platforms (Apache Airflow).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced data architecture principles (medallion architecture, materialized views, task scheduling).
- Experience using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for real-time analytics and operational reporting

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Our Data Scientist, AI Deployment team is a group of creative technical experts who design and build end-to-end machine learning solutions that power 1-to-1 personalization for some of the world's leading brands. In this role, you will:
- Design ML use cases from the ground up — scoping solutions that optimize for real business value, accounting for the complexity of modern marketing journeys, and proactively identifying risks to set each engagement up for success
- Build and own the full ML pipeline — taking customers' raw data through transformation, model training, and activation, so that model decisions are delivered to personalize experiences for millions of end users

The ML Platform Team makes ML/AI easy at scale. We streamline development, testing and deployment of ML/AI systems for hundreds of real-time algorithms.
We own training orchestration, an inference software stack and infrastructure, and a Feature Store, including VectorSearch and RAG tooling. We develop LLM tools and CI/CD for ML, covering the whole range of ML infrastructure needs.

Designing, building, and optimising components of Bolt’s ML Platform. Optimise and extend our in-house Feature Store Platform serving billions of data points in real-time. Tune infrastructure (k8s and AWS) and build automations to achieve the best cost-performance. Proactively solve technical challenges, discover and build new features, enabling develop efficiency. Support our internal users and help with troubleshooting, and turn user problems into scalable solutions. Raise our product and technical quality bar, promoting software engineering best practices.
5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, out of which 2+ in ML/MLOPS/AI Engineering. Experience in leading and delivering complex cross-team projects. Production experience with Python, Spark, and Kubernetes. Experience in MLOPS and AI ecosystem, and developing end-to-end ML/AI solutions at scale. You strive for technical excellence while staying pragmatic to achieve outcomes for the users.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our customer base continues to grow with the excitement around BrazeAI, we’re expanding our team! Join our Field Data Scientist group of creative technical experts who partner with customers to ensure their success. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with customer Analytics/BI teams and Braze colleagues on implementations, including use case definition, data integration, pipeline setup, and ML model configuration

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our customer base continues to grow with the excitement around BrazeAI, we’re expanding our team! Join our Field Data Scientist group of creative technical experts who partner with customers to ensure their success. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with customer Analytics/BI teams and Braze colleagues on implementations, including use case definition, data integration, pipeline setup, and ML model configuration
- Extend product capabilities by improving architecture and developing reusable data pipelines, APIs, and components
- Work closely with the RL pipeline development team to refine and advance our reinforcement learning (self-learning) algorithms
- Contribute to shaping Braze's product strategy and roadmap through customer-facing insights and technical expertise
- Provide ongoing technical expertise to ensure successful adoption, measurable outcomes, and long-term customer success
WHO YOU ARE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical discipline preferred
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or similar role working with large-scale data and production environments. Experience in customer-facing or consulting roles is strongly preferred
- Strong technical expertise: Proficient in Python (Pandas) and core ML libraries (TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, CatBoost, XGBoost). Skilled in SQL for querying/manipulating datasets, with experience in machine learning pipelines and model deployment
- Engineering best practices: You write well-structured, modular, documented code; follow strong development practices (Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, type-hinting, code reviews); and can build scalable, maintainable solutions
- Nice-to-have skills: Experience with DevOps tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP), data integration/ETL and pipeline optimization, or reinforcement learning algorithms
- Customer collaborator: Comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams, aligning stakeholders, and translating technical concepts into clear business value
- Entrepreneurial problem-solver: You identify opportunities and risks early, troubleshoot obstacles, and drive creative solutions
- Continuous learner: You stay current with industry trends, explore new tools/technologies, and thrive in environments that push you to grow
- Clear communicator: Able to explain complex technical ideas persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences
