Tasks

• Conduct AI Audits by analyzing our internal processes and identifying opportunities for "AI-ification" to increase efficiency.
• Develop MVP solutions and prototypes, including Custom GPTs, RAG systems for internal documentation, and automation scripts.
• Build RAG pipelines for company knowledge and automate repetitive manual tasks using agentic workflows.
• Enable and coach permanent colleagues in the use of AI tools, focusing on prompt engineering and tool selection.
• Collaborate directly with Product Management and Tech Lead levels to implement state-of-the-art models like GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, and Gemini.

Qualifications

• You are currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science (at least 4th semester) or a related Master's program.
• Strong technical brain with proficiency in Python and experience working with APIs (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain).
• Practical knowledge of Vector Databases and experience building AI agents is a significant plus.
• Experience in "vibe-coding" and a strong desire to experiment and explore new technologies.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders, such as Marketing.
• Fluent in English and German.

IONOS Cloud is a machine with many moving parts. Dozens of software components work together to provide the services offered. We are establishing a new team to better support and monitor this machine and improve the existing tooling and level of automation. We primarily rely on Kubernetes operators and cloud-native software such as ArgoCD, OpenBAO, Prometheus, etc. Our own in-house developments are also common.

As with a spaceship or aeroplane, we don't just need mechanics with oil cans, but also a team of engineers who continuously improve the overall process, build new tools where necessary and provide the other teams with everything they need to do a good job make (such as customer support, product developers or operations teams).

The underlying idea and goal is to end up with a self-healing "desired state" system that is controlled via GitOps and offers all products and components uniform processes and a reusable tool landscape.

The Site Reliability Engineering L2 department operates all IONOS Cloud IaaS and PaaS services. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our complex and distributed systems. You will work closely with our development teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure, and to automate and optimize our systems and processes.

• to provide Technical level 2 support with direct customer contact.
• Maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki, to proactively detect blockers in shift rotation and contribute to resolving complex issues in distributed systems.

Staff Storage Reliability Engineer for our global, public Object Storage platform, built upon Ceph.  You'll be engineering solutions to scale in production, working with our operations team to build, deploy and maintain our platforms.

Currently in double digit PetaBytes, deployed in multiple locations, our Ceph platform is a high growth and a critical part of our internal and public infrastructure.  You will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development, improve and maintain our production environments and ensure that uptime, performance and security are maintained with scaling.

Tasks

Ceph Deployment and Management:

• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining Ceph clusters, including managing storage pools, placement groups, and other core components.
• Performance Optimization:
• Tuning Ceph for optimal performance, addressing bottlenecks, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.

Automation:

• Developing and implementing automation strategies for Ceph deployments, upgrades, and maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
• Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to Ceph storage, often involving collaboration with other teams.

Collaboration:

• Working closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate Ceph into various systems and applications.

Staying Updated:

• Keeping abreast of the latest Ceph developments, new features, and best practices.
• Participating in the Ceph community and sharing knowledge.  

Qualifications

• 5 years+ experience as a Senior Linux Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer; Deep and broad understanding of Linux systems and networking.
• Proficiency in Ceph storage architecture and administration.
• Knowledge of Cloud Storage technologies (File, Object, Block)
• Experience with automation tools (eg, Ansible), monitoring and observability
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies (eg, docker).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, strong communication and collaboration abilities.

About the team:

The AI & ML Products Development department is responsible for building the platform for ML Services products for IONOS Cloud customers, as well as other companies in the United Internet group.

Our most recent product development features integration of GenerativeAI foundational models, LLMs and others. We run foundational models on prem in our cloud, such as Meta’s Llama, Mistral or StableDiffusion and also VectorDBs and offer them via APIs to our cloud customers.

We are also working with classic ML models for Computer Vision,  NLP), audio/voice  processing & predictions.

• Develop platform components, services and APIs, that integrate AI / ML services into our cloud products stack;
• Drive cloud-native implementation as part of a cross-functional team responsible for building our AI / ML platform that will provide AI-based products to our cloud customers, as well as internal clients and IONOS Group brands;
• Take part in all phases of development, maintenance and housekeeping of the platform;
