THE ROLE

As a Staff Software Engineer  within our Drive Qualification Center of Excellence, you will be the technical architect ensuring the world-class reliability of Everpure™ developed SSDs. You will own the validation strategy for hyperscale and system-level performance, transforming complex NAND and NVMe challenges into seamless, high-performance storage solutions. Collaborating across Firmware, Systems, and Program teams, you will move beyond simple testing to define the mission-critical readiness of the Everpure™ Platform.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Architect Validation Strategy: Define and own the end-to-end test strategy for major domains including NAND reliability, PCIe Gen6, and OCP compliance, establishing the entry/exit criteria that guarantee product maturity.

• Influence Product Readiness: Represent the Drive Qualification team in cross-functional forums, providing data-driven insights to FW release councils and quality reviews to determine launch risks and coverage.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Storage & Protocol Expertise: Extensive experience in SSD or firmware validation with deep technical mastery of NVMe, PCIe protocols, and OCP specifications, specifically regarding power-loss robustness and data integrity.

• Systems Engineering & Python Mastery: Expert-level Python skills for building modular, maintainable automation frameworks and experience managing large shared codebases within a Linux-heavy CI/CD environment.

The Multi Geo / Multi Cloud Application Architect at OpenFX owns the design and integrity of a payments and FX platform that must operate across multiple geographic regions and cloud environments without compromising on availability, data sovereignty, latency, or regulatory compliance. This is not a role that designs architecture in the abstract. You are responsible for decisions that determine whether a settlement clears in London during an AWS eu-west-1 degradation, whether a client in the UAE can transact without their data leaving the region, and whether OpenFX can migrate between cloud providers without a full platform rewrite.

Cross-border payments and FX are inherently distributed problems. Transactions originate in one jurisdiction, clear through correspondent networks in another, and settle in a third. The infrastructure that supports this must match that complexity with equivalent architectural rigour. You are the person who ensures it does.

You operate at the intersection of distributed systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, and financial regulatory compliance. You work closely with the Principal Architect, Platform team, pod-level Tech Leads, and the Security and Compliance functions to define standards, validate designs, and resolve the hardest architectural trade-offs the organisation faces.

Key Skills

Distributed Systems & Cloud Architecture

• Deep expertise in multi-region application design: active-active and active-passive topologies, global load balancing, regional failover, and cross-region replication strategies

Multi-Region Architecture Design & Ownership

• Define and maintain the reference architecture for multi-region deployment: traffic routing, data replication, failover behaviour, and regional isolation boundaries
• Own architectural decisions that govern how services are deployed, scaled, and failed over across regions; ensure those decisions are documented and revisited as the platform evolves
• Design for regional independence: the ability to isolate a region for regulatory or operational reasons without degrading global capability
• Define standards for how new services must be designed to operate in a multi-region context from day one, not as a retrofit

Multi-Cloud Strategy & Portability

• Maintain an architecture that avoids hard coupling to any single cloud provider for critical platform functions

• A regional cloud provider degradation does not cause a platform-wide outage; failover occurs within defined targets and clients are not materially impacted
• OpenFX can demonstrate to regulators in any operating jurisdiction that client data complies with local residency requirements, backed by architecture rather than manual controls
• Pod engineers have clear standards for building multi-region-ready features and do not re-solve distributed systems problems that have already been solved at the platform level

About the role 

The Senior Integration, API & Automation Engineer is a hands-on technical lead role responsible for shaping and executing Rubrik’s enterprise API, integration, and AI‑driven automation strategy.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to serve as a technical pillar across our engineering teams. This role is ideal for a highly experienced backend engineer who thrives on solving hard problems, mentoring others, and guiding architecture across multiple domains. You’ll be a multiplier, operating independently, shaping technical direction, and partnering with engineers 
and product teams to raise the bar across the organization. 

You’ll work across squads to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability, while owning high-impact projects that support our Advertising platform. Whether it’s unblocking performance bottlenecks, leading design for new backend services, or reducing tech debt, your contributions will have a far-reaching impact. 

This is a high-impact role where you will not only write mission-critical code but also provide the AI-driven roadmap to help our team automate optimizations and anomaly detection within our data pipelines. 

Core Responsibilities 

• Own and lead design for major backend systems across Ads, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability. 

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Python & Django. You will optimize application performance, focusing on concurrency, memory management, and efficient integration with our data layer. 

• Architect and optimize large scale data workflows for Ads. You will be expected to tune complex queries in Hive, Flink, or Trino to reduce latency and cost while maintaining data integrity. 

• Actively profile our stack to identify bottlenecks. You should be comfortable moving between high-level architectural planning and low-level query optimization. 

• Guide the engineering team in leveraging AI and Machine Learning for predictive analytics, automated QA of data streams, and enhancing our internal decision-making engines.  

• Collaborate with multiple teams to address cross team concerns (e.g., shared libraries, infra patterns, tech debt, security) 

• Tackle escalated production issues / incidents by providing quick remediations 

• Raise the engineering bar through elite code review, technical RFCs and hands on guidance for senior and mid-level engineers. 

• Work with EMs and PMs to shape technical roadmap and support long-term platform health. 
   

Technical Requirements 

• 10+ years in backend engineering with a proven track record of scaling systems in Ad-Tech, Fintech or High-Scale SaaS. 

• Deep expertise in building high concurrency, asynchronous services. You know how to scale Django beyond standard patterns. 

• Strong experience with distributed systems (e.g. Flink, Spark, Hive or SingleStore). You are an expert at optimizing distributed joins and partitioned datasets. 

• Advanced SQL skills; you can dissect an execution plan and optimize complex analytical queries for both performance and cloud cost. 

• Experience managing “Sync vs Async” data flows and ensuring consistency across disparate data stores 

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. 

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is a must.
