- Machine learning: supervised and unsupervised learning, clustering, and classification;

Job Overview
A Senior Systems Engineer leads projects related to creating system architecture, develops and defines system and product requirements, defines methods for verifying compliance to requirements, creates new solutions for the systems, and helps systems work more effectively. This individual may train or mentor Systems Engineers who have less experience and make decisions on projects and department activities. Their overall purpose is to ensure the product or system runs as efficiently as possible and works consistently to meet the needs of the company.
Essential Functions
- Provide expertise, oversight, and participation in activities involving weapon systems and associated hardware/software development, integration, test, configuration management, and acquisition and resource management for new capabilities to an existing weapon system.
- Develops and documents system and subsystem level specified and derived requirements and allocates requirements through the appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS) as codified in a System Requirements Review (SRR) process
- Lead requirements identification, verification, validation, and testing process
- Lead program technical interchange meetings, program management reviews, executive management reviews, test-related meetings, lab and flight test events, integrated product team meetings, software/hardware design reviews, platform integration meetings, etc.
- Own propulsion system requirements, interfaces, and verification plans for jet and RATO-equipped UAS platforms
- Support ground test, hot-fire, integration, and flight test planning and execution
- Define propulsion system architectures, including engines, RATO units, ignition systems, fuel delivery, and controls
- Manage propulsion interfaces with airframe, avionics, power, controls, and safety systems
- Drive certification, compliance, and range safety requirements as applicable
- Acts as engineering team leader, developing system engineering procedures and controls, managing project efforts, and taking the lead in problem resolution for aircraft research, development, production, and lifecycle acquisition and sustainment activities
- Interfaces with weapons system contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering activities
- Independently applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, oversee, and evaluate weapons system development and sustainment activities
- Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation

The Systems Engineer 2 supports the development, integration, and sustainment of complex aerospace and defense systems throughout the program lifecycle. The Systems Engineer 3 will contribute to the development, integration, and testing of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). This upper-level role requires a hands-on approach to support subsystem integration and execute test plans to meet aerospace standards under the guidance of senior engineers.

- Design and implement integration plans for UAS subsystems, ensuring compatibility across mechanical, electrical, and software components.

- Execute test plans for environmental, functional, and stress testing, following established procedures to meet aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-160).
- Identify and resolve integration issues related to electrical systems & mechanical systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare technical documentation, including test procedures and reports, to support system validation and certification.
- Support ground test, hot-fire, integration, and flight test planning and execution
- Define propulsion system architectures, including engines, RATO units, ignition systems, fuel delivery, and controls
- Manage propulsion interfaces with airframe, avionics, power, controls, and safety systems
- Coordinate with suppliers and partners on propulsion components and qualification
- Support certification, compliance, and range safety requirements as applicable
- Work on multi-discipline teams with systems engineers, software developers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers to support cohesive system design and performance.
- Follow regulations and safety standards during integration and testing activities.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
- Excellent at hands on building of mechanical assemblies for support of testing activities, fit checks, etc.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle) and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (power management, analog/digital circuits).
- Familiarity of RF principles (signal modulation, antenna performance) is a plus.
- Familiarity of Mechanical Design Software (SolidWorks, Fusion360) is a plus.
- Familiarity with aerospace/MIL standards.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Proficient knowledge of embedded systems or firmware development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to multidisciplinary teams, program management, and external stakeholders.
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field desirable.
Experience
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience supporting defense, aerospace, or related technical programs.
- Hands-on experience with circuit board design and/or benchtop electrical testing.
- Experience with UAS or drone systems through projects.
- Experience with integration and testing of subsystems into aerospace vehicles.
- Experience working with electrical systems, including circuit board design, benchtop electrical testing, and RF work

Position Description:
As an ITSE, you will play a pivotal role in provisioning, safeguarding, and maintaining system infrastructure. Working within an Agile environment, the person in this role will be responsible for maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting system architecture, addressing defects and bugs, and implementing technical solutions. In addition, providing system security support by addressing system configuration and security vulnerabilities will be vital.
In ad-hoc situations, you will have the opportunity to develop data-driven solutions by leveraging front-end and back-end languages such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, and Python in support of operations and national security events. Your expertise will be critical in providing guidance for IT systems frameworks, ensuring best practice architecture design, IT solutions, and coordinating with subject matter experts to deliver outstanding IT solutions. A successful System Engineer should be a skilled technical expert with a strong focus on security, problem-solving, and communication all while maintaining a proactive approach to system management and support.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of various Windows OS versions (e.g., Windows Server, Windows 10/11), including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with tools like Windows Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, and third-party monitoring solutions to analyze system performance and troubleshoot issues. Understanding of backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues, such as hardware failures, application crashes, or network connectivity problems. Skilled in identifying the underlying causes of issues and applying long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.
Security Knowledge: Understanding of security protocols (encryption, authentication), best practices, and tools like Windows Defender, firewalls, and other Windows services. Interface with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and other DOJ business units in addressing system risks and vulnerabilities.

Requirements:
- Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance
