About this Senior Technical Consultant — Physical & Logical Access Control (ServiceNow Platform) role at Swiftconnect
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced technical consultant to advise our product and engineering teams on the design and delivery of an enterprise workplace security capability built on the ServiceNow platform. This role sits at the intersection of physical access control and IT identity/security; someone who understands both how badge and access control systems work in the field and how to translate that into governed, automated workflows on a platform like ServiceNow. The consultant will help ensure our architecture, integration approach, and platform implementation follow industry best practices as we build out new enterprise functionality that brings physical and logical security together.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide technical and architectural guidance on a ServiceNow-based enterprise application that connects physical access control systems with identity, HR, and IT workflows.
-
Advise on data models, integration patterns, and workflow design for identity lifecycle management, badge/credential provisioning, approval routing, and access governance processes.
-
Evaluate proposed technical designs against ServiceNow platform best practices, upgrade-safety principles, and scoped-application development standards.
-
Advise on integration approaches with physical access control systems (PACS) and upstream HR/identity systems, via REST/SOAP and related integration patterns.
-
Review requirements and technical documentation, identifying gaps, risks, and open questions; participate in design workshops with the product and engineering team.
-
Provide guidance on compliance, audit, and governance requirements relevant to physical and logical access management (e.g., access certification, audit trails, data retention, regulated environments).
-
Advise on test strategy and quality practices appropriate for a platform application, including functional, integration, and automated testing approaches.
-
Stay current on access control industry standards, vendor ecosystems, regulatory considerations, and market trends, and share informed perspective with internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
-
10+ years of relevant experience across security systems integration, enterprise software consulting, or platform engineering roles.
-
Solid, hands-on understanding of physical access control systems (PACS) and the major platforms in the space such as Lenel/LenelS2, Gallagher, Software House C•CURE, Honeywell, AMAG, Openpath/Avigilon Alta, HID, or Kastle Systems ; including how credentials, readers, and access control panels operate in practice.
-
Demonstrated experience bridging physical security with logical/IT security; i.e., converging badge/access control systems with identity, HR, and IT service management workflows into a unified workplace or enterprise platform such as ServiceNow, SailPoint, or similar.
-
Demonstrated hands-on expertise with the ServiceNow platform, including scoped application development, Integration Hub, workflow/Decision Table configuration, and portal-based (e.g., Employee Center) experiences.
-
Demonstrated, proven experience with enterprise integration principles, patterns, and architecture (e.g., API-led and event-driven integration, middleware/orchestration layers, data mapping and transformation) ; able to design integrations that are resilient, secure, and maintainable across disparate systems.
-
Working knowledge of ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD) or similar HR-driven workflow modules, and experience integrating platform applications with upstream HR/identity data sources.
-
Subject-matter expertise in identity and access management (IAM) concepts, including identity lifecycle management, access request/approval workflows, and access certification or recertification processes.
-
Experience advising on or building ServiceNow Store-published applications, including familiarity with platform certification and testing requirements (e.g., Automated Test Framework), is a plus.
-
Strong understanding of enterprise security, audit, and compliance considerations relevant to access-related systems.
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical trade-offs for both engineering and business stakeholders.
-
Comfort operating in an advisory capacity ; reviewing others’ designs and documentation, and providing structured, actionable feedback rather than hands-on-keyboard delivery alone.
Preferred Qualifications
-
ServiceNow certification(s) such as Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, or Certified Implementation Specialist in a relevant product line.
-
Prior experience with a PACS vendor, systems integrator, or security consultancy, and/or in corporate real estate or workplace technology.
-
Familiarity with mobile/digital credentialing (e.g., NFC or mobile wallet-based access credentials).
-
Experience working with or advising early-stage or newly launched enterprise software products.
