• Data Management チームは、Google BigQueryを基盤とした全社的なデータ活用の核となる中央集権型データウェアハウスの管理・運用・最適化を担っています。
• 現在、当社のデータプラットフォームは毎月千名以上の従業員に利用されています。このような環境において、アクセス権限や計算リソースの適切な維持管理は、高度なAIアプリケーションの活用をはじめとする、あらゆるデータドリブンな取り組みを支える上で不可欠です。

業務内容

本ポジションは、高効率なデータ分析基盤の提供に責任を持ちます。データ利用者が自然とコスト意識を持てるような仕組みを構築・維持し、運用の無駄を排除することで、限られた計算リソースを優先度の高いビジネス課題へ的確に割り当てていく仕組み作りの役割を担っていただきます。

• プラットフォームの継続的改善 社内のデータ利用者に持続的な価値を提供するため、Google BigQuery上に構築されたデータ分析基盤において、アクセス制御、リソース割り当て、コスト最適化、およびユーザビリティの全般にわたる継続的な改善を行います。
• クラウドDWHにおける専門性の発揮 クラウドデータウェアハウスのリソース管理およびコストマネジメントに関する高い専門性を発揮し、効率的な分析環境を維持・管理します。
• ワークフローおよび予算管理の確立 個々のクエリのパフォーマンスチューニングから、各コストセンター部門におけるリソース使用量のエンドツーエンドの予測・予算管理にいたるまで、包括的なワークフローのサイクルを確立します。

• ステークホルダーとの連携・コミュニケーション データ利用者、セキュリティチーム、プライバシーチームなど、多様なステークホルダーと効果的なコミュニケーションを図り、業務上の要請やコンプライアンス要件に沿ったデータプラットフォームの継続的な改善を推進します。
• チーム連携とインフラの実現 チームメンバーとの協働をリードし、「高いユーザビリティ」「最適なコスト効率」「強固なセキュリティ」を両立するデータ分析基盤を構築します。

• 歓迎する経験・スキル
• データ分析基盤におけるFinOpsの取り組みの経験（特にクエリ計算リソースの最適化やコスト分配に関連する経験であればなお可）
• データマート提供のためのETL/ELTパイプライン構築および運用管理の経験

In the Data Management Team, we are responsible for the administration, operation, and optimization of a centralized data warehouse built on Google BigQuery, which serves as the core foundation for data utilization across the company.

Our data platform is currently utilized by hundreds of employees per month. In this environment, maintaining and managing access permissions and computing resources is essential to supporting all data-driven initiatives, including advanced AI applications.

As we transition into an AI-native organization, we are seeing a rapid increase in the number of data users, overall data volume, and the diversity of use cases, and expecting that more will come. Under these circumstances, balancing resource management and cost control has become increasingly critical. Our mission is to optimize redundant data usage while safeguarding high-priority, high-impact business use cases.

Ultimately, the team’s goal is to provide a secure, user-friendly, and cost-effective data analytics environment that contributes to the fast-paced development and growth of our business.

Work Responsibilities

This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of a highly cost-effective data analytics environment. The successful candidate will build and maintain a mechanism that naturally fosters cost-awareness among users, eliminates operational waste, and ensures that finite computing resources are precisely allocated to high-priority business tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Continuously improve the BigQuery-based data analytics platform across the areas of access control, resource allocation, cost optimization, and usability to deliver sustained value to data users.
• Provide domain expertise in resource and cost management of cloud data warehouse to maintain a highly efficient analytics environment.
• Establish a comprehensive workflow cycle that covers everything from individual query performance tuning to the end-to-end forecasting and budget management of cloud expenditures for each cost center.
• Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including data users, security and privacy teams, to continuously improve the data platform in alignment with their operational needs and compliance requirements.
• Lead the collaboration with team members to realize a data analytics infrastructure that simultaneously achieves high usability, optimal cost efficiency, and robust security.

Unique Challenges

• Navigating High-Stakes Balancing Acts in a Fast-Growing Business: In a rapidly expanding business environment, you will tackle the complex challenge of balancing the need for speed and diverse demands from data users with cost efficiency and robust security. You will directly impact company-wide systems by strategically managing these trade-offs while delivering the data platform that serves as the foundation for AI utilization.
• Architecting for modern AI Use Cases: As the organization transitions to becoming AI-native, you will be instrumental in designing and building data management systems that highly efficiently support new use cases, such as automated data utilization via AI agents.
• Collaborating Across Diverse Data Experts: You will have the opportunity to build company-wide data products by collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary data team comprising experts in data ingestion, business intelligence engineering, data agent development, among other data pillars.

Qualifications

• Required Experience/Skills
• Resonates with the mission and values of Mercari Group and its individual companies.
• Strong leadership and driving force to manage projects by communicating effectively with data users, governance teams, and other stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of cloud data warehouse architecture and cost structures, including practical knowledge of IaaS implementation.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience in analyzing and optimizing data transformation logic using SQL within a data warehouse environment.
• Preferred Experience/Skills
• Experience in FinOps initiatives for data analytics infrastructure, specifically focusing on resource optimization and cost efficiency.
• Experience in implementing and managing ETL/ELT pipelines for data marts.
• Experience in designing, building, or managing data infrastructure specifically tailored for AI/LLM utilization.
