Anthropic · Onsite · San Francisco, CA | Seattle, WA

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Finance Systems team at Anthropic. Building on our recent go live on Workday Financials, you will serve as the internal functional lead for Workday Business Assets and Lease Management, owning the design and configuration of the systems and processes that govern the full lifecycle of Anthropic's assets and leases — from our rapidly scaling compute and data center infrastructure to our global real estate portfolio.

This is a critical role that will directly shape how Anthropic's finance organization operates as we scale toward public company readiness. Anthropic's asset base is growing at an extraordinary pace, and the accuracy of our capitalization, depreciation, and lease accounting (ASC 842) directly impacts our financial statements. You will work at the intersection of finance domain expertise and technical implementation, partnering with implementation partners, engineering teams, and finance stakeholders to build a world class asset and lease management foundation within Workday.

In this role, you will

  • Business Assets Ownership: Serve as the internal functional lead for Workday Business Assets, owning configuration of asset books, asset classes, useful lives, depreciation profiles, capitalization rules, and CIP (construction in progress) tracking; drive design decisions, validate configurations, and ensure business requirements are met
  • Lease Management & ASC 842: Own end to end lease administration and lease accounting across Workday and dedicated lease management platforms for both real estate and infrastructure/compute leases — including lease classification, right of use assets and lease liabilities, amortization schedules, modifications and remeasurements, and ASC 842 disclosure reporting
  • Infrastructure Asset Lifecycle: Partner with Compute, Data Infrastructure, Procurement, Accounting, and other key stakeholders to manage high value technology infrastructure assets from procurement through capitalization, transfers, and retirement; design componentization, tagging, and tracking approaches for data center and compute hardware at scale, with asset records structured to meet international regulatory, statutory, and cross border compliance requirements.
  • ERP Core Financials (R2R Support): Support the broader Workday Financials platform as a secondary focus, ensuring FDM alignment (Worktags, account posting rules, dimensional hierarchies) for asset and lease transactions; partner with consultants on future phase / net new implementations impacting assets and leases
  • Reporting & Close Support: Build and maintain asset rollforwards, depreciation forecasts, lease disclosure schedules, and reconciliations; support month end and quarter end close activities for fixed assets and leases, managing defects and data quality issues as they arise
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Integrations, Security, and Financials configuration teams to align master data, journals, controls, and performance service level agreements; partner with Real Estate & Workplace, Legal, FP&A, and Tax on the lease pipeline and capital planning
  • Platform Expansion & Adoption: Work closely with engineering teams and business stakeholders to drive ongoing expansion and adoption of the Workday platform (e.g. biannual releases), identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation across the asset and lease lifecycle

You may be a good fit if you

  • Have 8+ years of experience in finance systems, ERP implementation, or business systems analysis roles, with at least 5 years of hands-on Workday Financials (experience including Business Assets), lease management, inventory or asset management software. experience.
  • Possess deep expertise in Workday Business Assets configuration, including asset books, depreciation methods, capitalization thresholds, CIP tracking, mass asset transactions, transfers, and disposals
  • Have hands-on experience with lease accounting under ASC 842 in major lease management platforms (e.g. CoStar, FinQuery/LeaseQuery, Visual Lease)
  • Possess a strong understanding of fixed asset accounting processes, including capitalization policies, useful life determination, impairment assessment, and asset level reconciliation to the general ledger, along with an understanding of SOX and compliance requirements.
  • Have experience managing high value technology infrastructure assets, such as, data centers, compute hardware, networking equipment, and understand the operational realities of tracking physical assets at scale
  • Are skilled at translating complex business requirements into technical solutions, bridging the gap between finance stakeholders and technical implementation teams
  • Have experience with full ERP implementation lifecycles, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, data migration, cutover planning, and hypercare
  • Have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with finance leadership, accounting teams, and technical partners
  • Are comfortable working in fast paced, high growth environments with evolving requirements and tight timelines

Strong candidates may also have

  • CPA certification, or a strong background in accounting or finance, with understanding of GAAP/IFRS reporting requirements, including IFRS 16 lease accounting
  • Experience with lease portfolios from dedicated platforms (e.g. FinQuery/LeaseQuery, Visual Lease, CoStar).
  • Experience assessing embedded leases within cloud, hosting, and service contracts under ASC 842
  • Experience with Workday FDM design, Prism Analytics, or Accounting Center for asset and lease journal automation
  • Technical familiarity with Claude suite, SQL, Workday WQL/RaaS reporting, BigQuery, Workday Studio/Core Connector, Python
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal controls for fixed asset and lease accounting cycles

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
