With our solutions, our customers make informed decisions and companies develop their business and sustainable performance. The reporter will be responsible for researching and writing news and features on the markets desk covering the Asia Pacific region.
The markets team produces articles relating to the trading, pricing and structuring of interest rates, FX, equities and credit products.
Risk’s coverage stands out by virtue of its depth. We try to be first to the industry’s more technical stories – but even when we are not, we will always offer more insight and analysis than other titles.
Our readers represent the full cross-section of the market, and our reporting reflects that – we speak to the buy-side, the sell-side, the technology and infrastructure firms that connect them, and the regulators and supervisors that oversee them. This is a great strength, enabling us to piece together complex stories that have multiple stakeholders.
The role requires a minimum of three to four years financial reporting experience, preferably within investment banking or capital markets.
Key responsibilities:
- Cultivate industry contacts to generate a constant stream of news leads
- Contribute to coverage regularly with news, profiles and feature articles on topics that our readers care about and cannot be found elsewhere.
- Collaborate with journalists and editors across our other editorial desks and three bureaus in Hong Kong, London and New York.
- Look for stories that use – and bring to life – the large datasets now available in derivatives and cash markets.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a journalist, preferably covering the financial sector and/or markets for most of that time.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills and a knack for explaining complex topics in plain English. An ability to write with flair and, when appropriate, a sense of humour would be a bonus!
- A keen eye for detail and nuances of meaning.
- A willingness to learn about a broad range of financial topics.
