About this PRN Medical Assistant (MA) role at Urgent Care for Children
Join Team UC4C – Careers at Urgent Care for Children
Are you looking for a meaningful career opportunity in the medical field? At Urgent Care for Children (UC4C), we are always looking for passionate and dedicated professionals to join our team.
Our clinics are staffed with pediatric-trained medical providers and compassionate support staff who work together to deliver exceptional after-hours care for children. We are proud to provide a supportive, team-oriented environment where both patients and employees feel valued.
As a Medical Assistant (MA) in Daphne, Alabama, you will play a vital dual role in delivering both exceptional clinical support and seamless patient experience. This position blends traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities with front-end patient coordination functions to ensure smooth clinic operations — especially during launch and early growth phases.
You will be a trusted partner to providers, patients, and families — supporting care from check-in through discharge. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a team-first mindset, as you may rotate between clinical and patient-facing administrative responsibilities based on operational needs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Clinical Care & Provider Support
- Greet, room, and prepare patients for appointments with warmth and professionalism.
- Complete patient intake, obtain vital signs, and conduct defined scope assessments.

- Perform intramuscular injections safely and accurately while monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
- Perform diagnostic X-rays in accordance with clinic protocols and safety standards (training provided).
- Assist physicians and advanced care practitioners with patient care.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure infection control standards are maintained.
- Support medication refills, prior authorizations, referrals, and patient recall efforts.
- Ensure patient charts are accurate and up to date in the EMR.
- Patient Experience & Care Coordination

- Collect and verify demographic and insurance information in the EMR.
- Schedule appointments, follow-ups, consults, and referrals.
- Answer and manage incoming calls with empathy and professionalism.
- Support outreach related to quality measures and follow-up care.
- Maintain strong communication with clinical and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with opening/closing clinic procedures and general organization.
- Team Collaboration & Launch Support
- Rotate between clinical and coordination duties based on daily clinic needs.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support cross-coverage.
- Contribute to workflow optimization and continuous improvement efforts.
- Serve as a positive representative of the clinic’s mission, vision, and values.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred.
- BLS certification required
- 1+ year of experience in a medical assistant or patient-facing healthcare role.
- Comfort navigating electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
