We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Mechanical QA Engineer to support mechanical quality assurance activities for a large-scale data center project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, site inspections, quality documentation, and coordination with contractors, consultants, and project teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting QA/QC activities for mechanical systems on large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, or mission-critical projects, with a strong focus on HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, fire protection, mechanical plant, and related building services.

You will play a key role in ensuring that mechanical works are delivered in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, project quality requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the implementation of the project quality management system for mechanical works.
  • Review approved mechanical drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, material submittals, and project quality requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections for mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, pumps, piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment installations.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with approved quality procedures, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Review and verify inspection requests, material approvals, test reports, pressure test records, flushing records, installation checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Identify mechanical quality issues, installation deficiencies, defects, and non-conforming work and support the issuance and closeout of NCRs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, MEP engineers, commissioning teams, and project stakeholders to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Support material receiving inspections for mechanical equipment and components to verify compliance with approved submittals and project requirements.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely closeout of quality observations and non-conformances.
  • Support testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover readiness by ensuring mechanical works are properly inspected, documented, and accepted.
  • Participate in quality meetings, site inspections, progress reviews, and technical coordination sessions.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection logs, punch lists, NCR trackers, test records, and closeout documentation.
  • Assist in preparing regular QA reports, dashboards, and quality summaries for project leadership and client review.
  • Promote a strong quality culture across mechanical site activities by reinforcing standards, accountability, and timely issue resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

  • 7+ years of QA/QC, mechanical engineering, MEP inspection, or construction quality experience within large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience working on data centers, mission-critical, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale building projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water systems, piping, pumps, ductwork, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and mechanical plant equipment.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements, inspection requests, test reports, NCRs, punch lists, and quality records.
  • Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards, installation practices, testing procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to identify installation defects, non-conforming works, coordination issues, and quality risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with Aconex, Procore, BIM 360, Oracle Primavera Cloud, or other document control and quality management platforms.
  • Knowledge of data center cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, liquid cooling infrastructure, and mechanical commissioning requirements.
  • Strong coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, client representatives, MEP teams, and commissioning teams.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CQI/IRCA, ASQ, ASHRAE, NFPA, or other relevant quality/mechanical certifications.
  • Experience working in a PMC, owner’s representative, or client-side project management environment.
  • Previous experience working in KSA or the wider GCC region.
