Westfalia Fruit Estate, situated in Limpopo, Tzaneen, has a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced: FARM MANAGER
Requirements
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Senior Farm Manager, the position will assist in managing the production unit through the effective utilization of all its natural, human and financial resources to maximize production yields and quality in the respective section whilst assisting in controlling costs
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Senior farm Manager to manage a full-year faming program relating to spraying, picking, irrigation, fertilising, avocado and mango harvesting and related activities.
- Assisting the Senior Manager to manage the use of human, financial and natural resources.
- Assisting with creating a well-managed budget on a yearly basis.
- Conduct scheduled and spot checks on farm records and stores during the year.
- Assist the Accreditations Manager with internal audits within the farms.
- Ensure compliance with all farming accreditations and Health & Safety regulations
- Support the business towards retaining ISO45001 certification for WFE
- Assist with full recruitment process of both permanent and seasonal employees.
- Responsible for application of legal and fair labour relation practices to ensure labour stability on the section
- Manage the disciplinary processes with assistance from HR.
- Managing the development program of sub-ordinates according to needs and priorities.
Education:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Degree in Agriculture or relevant qualification.
Experience:
- 3 yrs experience working on a subtropical fruit farm
- Training in the accreditations relevant to the production of export fruit and experience in the implementations of these accreditations
- Passionate about high quality fruit production
- Self-motivated, Hardworking and energetic
- Attention to detail is essential
- Service oriented individuals that can work under pressure
- Willing to be a team player
- Able to work with minimum interventions
