About the role
The Electrical Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and growing business opportunities across nuclear power generation and other industrial markets by providing technical sales support for electrical maintenance, testing, installation, outage services, and skilled workforce solutions. This role partners closely with plant leadership, maintenance organizations, and engineering teams to understand customer challenges and deliver tailored service solutions that improve reliability, safety, and operational performance.
Success in this role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage opportunities from initial engagement through proposal development and project execution. During scheduled outage seasons, this role may also perform hands-on electrical field service work, supporting installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities at customer sites.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Account Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with utility customers, plant personnel, engineering organizations, and strategic partners.
- Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and target new customers throughout assigned territories.
- Maintain and grow existing customer accounts through proactive relationship management.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting through CRM tools.
- Support contract negotiations while maintaining profitability and customer satisfaction.
Technical Sales & Proposal Development
- Promote electrical maintenance, testing, installation, outage support, and technical workforce services.
- Meet with customers to understand operational challenges and recommend technical service solutions.
- Conduct site visits and technical assessments to evaluate customer infrastructure, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions, detailed proposals, scopes of work, estimates, and commercial quotations.
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Project Support
- Coordinate with Operations, Project Management, Recruiting, and field teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Support outage planning efforts by identifying resource needs and developing service strategies with customers.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, customer capital projects, and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent TNC Services at customer meetings, trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events.
Field Service Support (Outage Season)
- Perform hands-on electrical field work during scheduled plant outages as business needs require.
- Support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
- Collaborate with field crews and site leadership to execute outage work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer schedules.
- Ensure all field activities comply with applicable safety procedures, quality requirements, plant procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- 3–5+ years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, electrical field services, electrical maintenance, or a related technical role.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems within power generation or heavy industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
- Experience developing technical proposals, scopes of work, customer presentations, and cost estimates.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to understand customer technical requirements and develop practical service solutions.
- Ability to perform hands-on electrical field work during outage assignments, including standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in industrial environments.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including extended outage assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants.
- Knowledge of switchgear, power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relays, transformers, generators, motors, or industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and applicable electrical safety standards.
- Existing relationships within the nuclear utility or power generation industry.
- Experience supporting outage planning and execution.
- Experience selling maintenance, technical services, or field service solutions.
- PMP or other technical certifications are a plus.

Work Environment & Travel
- Hybrid role combining office-based sales activities, customer site visits, and seasonal field service work.
- During scheduled outages, may be assigned to hands-on mechanical maintenance activities at customer sites, including extended hours and shift work.
- Exposure to industrial and radiological environments while supporting commercial nuclear power plants and other power generation facilities; strict adherence to PPE, safety procedures, and quality standards is required.
- Travel up to 50% for customer meetings, site assessments, outage support, and industry conferences.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization for commercial nuclear power plants, as required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $118,000-$140,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
