Position Summary    

We are seeking a highly skilled Change Manager / Project Manager to support strategic initiatives that require both strong organizational change leadership and disciplined project execution. This is a new role created to strengthen the company’s ability to successfully deliver complex initiatives while also building greater capability around change adoption and business readiness.

This position will play an important role in helping establish and embed change management as a new discipline within the organization. In addition to supporting projects from initiation through implementation, this role will help introduce change management practices, tools, and ways of working that support leaders, teams, and stakeholders through change. The ideal candidate brings expertise in project planning, governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and adoption, along with the ability to help build awareness and maturity in change management across the company. The successful candidate will be a proactive and organized leader who can manage both execution and adoption and comfortable stepping into a newly created role and helping define, shape, and evolve it over time. Ideally, this person will be effective at balancing project delivery with the people side of change and able to influence leaders and stakeholders while establishing credibility and be comfortable working across business and technical functions.

Location: This is a hybrid position with in-person and remote schedule flexibility based out of Denver, CO.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $145k and $155k, depending on experience level.

 

Primary Responsibilities    

Change Management

  • Develop and execute change management strategies and plans to support project and business objectives.
  • Conduct impact assessments to evaluate how changes affect people, processes, systems, and organizational structures.
  • Create stakeholder engagement, communication, training, and readiness plans.
  • Partner with leaders, managers, and subject matter experts to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption.
  • Assess organizational readiness and identify potential resistance or adoption barriers.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address resistance and increase engagement.
  • Coordinate training efforts and support end-user readiness for new processes, tools, or ways of working.
  • Measure and report on change adoption, readiness, and effectiveness.
  • Support sustainment activities to reinforce and embed changes over time.
  • Help establish practical change management approaches, templates, and tools that can be used across the organization as the discipline continues to mature.

Project Management

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of projects across cross-functional teams.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, resource needs, and success measures.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk logs, issue logs, and status reports.
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, working sessions, and governance reviews.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Manage dependencies across teams and ensure alignment on milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare clear and concise updates for project sponsors, leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, organized, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Support implementation, post-go-live stabilization, and lessons learned activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in business, Organizational Development, Communications, Project Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in project management and change management.
  • Experience working in a startup or growing company that was building change management as a new discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business processes, technology, or organizational change.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, practices, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of change management frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and adoption strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and work effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency in project management and change management software and tools.
  • M&A, banking, and payments experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong project planning and execution skills
  • Knowledge of organizational change management principles and practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation abilities
  • Ability to assess impacts, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Previous experience leading through ambiguity and supporting teams through change, including leaders who may struggle with it
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management certification: PMP (Project Management Professional), CAPM, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
  • Change Management certification: Prosci Change Management Certification, CCMP (Certified Change Management Professional), or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting enterprise transformations, system implementations, or large-scale business change.
  • Experience working with executive stakeholders and cross-functional business teams.
  • Familiarity with project portfolio management tools and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience with digital adoption, survey, reporting, and collaboration tools that support organizational change initiatives.
  • The ideal candidate is comfortable selecting and using practical tools to establish and support change management as an emerging discipline within the organization. This may include tools for stakeholder analysis, change impact assessment, communications planning, training coordination, readiness measurement, adoption tracking, and executive reporting.
  • Experience with tools such as the following is preferred:
    • Project and work management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Monday.com, or equivalent
    • Collaboration and communication tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Zoom
    • Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Survey and feedback tools such as Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, or similar platforms
    • Reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel dashboards
    • Training, learning, or digital adoption tools such as LMS platforms, WalkMe, Whatfix, Articulate, Camtasia, or similar solutions
