About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and hands-on Carrier Operations Manager/Analyst to join our European Carrier Partnerships team for a maternity cover.

During our busiest time of the year - Peak Season and Q1 contract renewals - you will act as the operational backbone for our team. While our Senior Managers focus on high-level commercial negotiations and carrier strategy, you will take ownership of the critical backend operations that keep our Resell carrier services running smoothly across Europe. You will sit at the intersection of carrier pricing, financial cost control, and product configuration, ensuring that our negotiated rates are accurately implemented and our margins are protected.

What will you be doing?

1. Rate Card & Commercial Operations (Core Focus)

• Take ownership of the base rate cards ("buy rates") for our Resell carriers across the EU.
• Translate newly signed carrier contracts and addendums into operational Excel files, ready for upload into Auctane’s backend systems.
• Execute highly time-sensitive rate adjustments, heavily focusing on monthly fuel surcharge updates and complex Peak Season surcharges.
• Ensure the internal Pricing Team is fed accurate, real-time base costs so they can correctly configure final markups and retail pricing.

1. Cost Control & Financial Deviation Analysis

• Act as the first line of defense against margin leakage on our Resell carrier lines.
• Support the Finance and Accounting teams by running heavy analytical deep-dives to investigate billing mismatches between our negotiated rates and actual carrier invoices.
• Resolve financial discrepancies by identifying internal system configuration errors, or by compiling the necessary data to request credit notes and correct wrong account setups with our carriers.

1. Product Integration & System Configuration

• Partner with the Product team to execute the technical configuration of new Resell carrier services and features (e.g., paperless returns).
• Maintain the operational carrier footprint across both of our core European platforms: Packlink and ShipStation.
• Support the backend configuration required for major strategic rollouts, such as adding new carriers to ShipStation for Shopify and enabling DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) cross-border solutions.

1. Team & Contract Support

• Provide direct operational support to the broader EU Carrier Management team (covering the UK, Italy, Spain, France, and Germany) during their busy Q1 renewal periods.
• Assist in tracking the legal workflow, ensuring that carrier contracts and addendums move smoothly from draft to final signature in our systems.
• Pull data and build internal carrier benchmark reports to arm the Senior Managers with the data they need for negotiations.

What are we looking for?

• Operational & Analytical Powerhouse: Advanced Excel skills are absolutely mandatory. You must be highly comfortable diving into massive data sets, managing complex VLOOKUPs/Pivot Tables, calculating fuel formulas, and spotting pricing anomalies.
• Industry Knowledge & Last-Mile Expertise: You must have a solid understanding of the logistics sector, specifically last-mile carriers and e-commerce shipping. Previous operational, pricing, or billing experience within this space is highly desirable to help you hit the ground running.
• Curious & Willing to Learn: We are looking for someone who asks questions, wants to understand the "why" behind the data, and is eager to learn the e-commerce logistics industry.
• High Attention to Detail: A single cent off on a rate card upload can cost the company thousands. You must be meticulous in your data entry and backend system configurations.
• Cross-Functional Execution: Ability to seamlessly collaborate with internal Finance, Pricing, and Product teams. You know how to take commercial data and make it work in technical systems.
• Problem Solver: You don't just report cost deviations; you actively investigate them, find the root cause, and ensure they are fixed.
• Languages: Fluent English is required.
