The Course Assistant position supports PGTE 5270, CRN 14536: xFab Lecture, taught by Ayo Okunseinde and Brad MacDonald. xFab introduces students to the fundamentals of making through electronics and fabrication in order to produce a wide range of creative work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with xFab instructors in a non-instructional support capacity.
Maintain and organize xFab course supplies through clear labeling and storage
Organize and prepare instructional and task-based learning spaces
Transfer custodianship of materials between xFab Lab sections as needed
Assist with equipment and materials pickup on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current student in the MFA Design & Technology program
Strong academic standing
Familiarity with the materials and equipment used in xFab
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level of reliability, punctuality, and professional responsibility
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of physical computing and digital fabrication
Broad knowledge of general fabrication and making skills
WORK MODE
This is an On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-DNI
HOURLY RATE: $25.13/hourly / 5 hours a week, 15-week semester

Responsibilities:
xFab is a course that requires the organization and availability of fabrications supplies and materials. The Course Assistant will work with xFab instructors to accomplish this task. In addition, the Course Assistant will support teaching and learning outcomes through non-instructional duties such as: attending class when needed, demonstrating the use of equipment, assisting with classroom setup, organization and maintenance of instructional materials, maintenance of spaces designated for instructional activity, and assisting with equipment and materials pickup on campus.
