À propos de ce poste Workshop Coordinator chez Destinus

Destinus · Sur site · Payerne, Vaud, Switzerland

About the role

The Destinus team at Payerne is looking for a hands-on Workshop Coordinator to keep the R&D workshop running smoothly across work preparation, warehouse and logistics, and workshop management. This is a broad operational role that touches everything between an incoming delivery and a finished part leaving the shop, suited to someone who is equally comfortable at a workbench, a stock shelf, or a planning board.

The ideal candidate has a machinist or polymechanic background and has since built solid experience across AVOR, warehousing, and production operations. They are organised, self-sufficient, and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed.

What You’ll Do

Warehouse and Stores (core of the role)

  • Work Hands On and Set the Example: Be part of the warehouse floor every day. Receive, inspect and store incoming goods, pick and prepare outgoing shipments, supply Production and carry out stock counts, together with the small warehouse team. Report discrepancies and damaged or incorrect materials to the Logistics Officer. Step in wherever needed, especially during peak periods, absences or urgent situations.
  • Manage Stock Levels: Maintain stock levels of materials, components, consumables and tooling for the warehouse and the workshop stores, and make sure every item is in its designated location and ready for use or dispatch.
  • Plan and Coordinate: Plan the daily priorities and workload of the warehouse team, assign tasks and make day to day decisions. Act as the first point of contact for Production, Purchasing and Engineering on material availability and warehouse questions.
  • Train and Guide the Team: Onboard and train new and junior colleagues, act as the go to person for questions on processes and systems, give regular feedback and flag performance or people topics to the Head of Warehousing & Logistics Europe.
  • Maintain Data Integrity: Keep ERP (MSD) data and records accurate and up to date for orders, deliveries and stock movements, check the quality of data entered by the team, and support regular cycle counts and stock audits.
  • Resolve Larger Discrepancies: Investigate and resolve significant stock or data discrepancies that go beyond day to day issues, working with Finance, Production Planning and other stakeholders to find the root cause.
  • Prepare and Analyze Reports: Report on stock, lead times, order fulfillment and workshop status, identify areas for improvement and propose and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Take Initiative and Drive Improvement: Do not wait to be asked. Spot bottlenecks, standardize and improve warehouse processes, and build and implement improvement plans, from small quick wins to larger changes.
  • Lead on Safety and Compliance: Uphold and promote Swiss workplace health and safety rules (SUVA guidelines), take part in and help organize safety audits, and keep the warehouse and workshop organized and compliant.

Workshop Support and Collaboration

  • Support the Workshop: Support tool inventory management and equipment maintenance scheduling, and help keep the workshop clean, organized and operational.
  • Support Manufacturing When Needed: Assist technicians on the floor, prepare workpieces or help set up machines when the workload requires it.
  • Support New Part Introduction: Help assess the manufacturability of new parts coming from Engineering, flag risks and support the transition of new components into production.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with the Logistics Officer, Engineering, Procurement, Production and other departments, attend relevant meetings, make sure the warehouse perspective is represented, and keep information flowing so bottlenecks do not form.

You don’t need to be an expert in every area. We are looking for a strong warehouse and logistics professional with the willingness to develop across the other areas of the role.

Requirements

What You’ll Need

Must Have

  • Completed vocational training (EFZ), for example as Logistiker/in or Polymechaniker/in, machinist, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse and logistics operations, including coordinating or guiding colleagues, ideally combined with experience in workshop or production floor operations or AVOR / work preparation.
  • Valid Swiss forklift licence (Staplerausweis or permis de cariste), as you will work on the floor.
  • Hands on attitude and willingness to step in on the floor, not just coordinate from a desk.
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems for inventory, production orders and logistics, preferably Microsoft Dynamics (MSD) warehouse modules, with the ability to analyze and interpret data from the system.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, machining methods and tolerances.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience preparing reports and resolving stock discrepancies across functions.
  • Experience training, guiding or onboarding colleagues.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Organized and self sufficient, able to manage multiple workstreams without close supervision.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours within Swiss working time rules and to step in during peak periods or urgent situations.
  • Fluent in English.

Strong Advantage

  • French and/or German.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a high mix, low volume or R&D adjacent manufacturing environment.
  • Experience handling regulated or dangerous goods.
  • Previous experience as coordinator, team lead or supervisor.
  • Experience in industrial, aerospace, automotive or similar technical environments.

Who You Are

You are a hands on coordinator who rolls up your sleeves and sets the example on the floor. You enjoy guiding a small team, you are comfortable working with data and confident resolving complex issues. You take initiative, you like making processes better, and you are not afraid to dig into a discrepancy until you understand what is really going on. You communicate clearly across departments and bring your colleagues along.

If you are ready to step into a high impact role and be part of a fast growing, innovative company, we would love to hear from you.
